| nightside_samurai08-22-07, 10:51 PM | Under pressure from my friends, I have been convinced to run a high level game (15th level) in Eberron. I have a pretty good understanding of the setting but I'm not used to running such high level games in it, and I'm seeking some help on a few things. 1) What kind of things could challenge such a high level group? Dragons? Demons? 2) What sort of house rules have you found useful in your own high level games? 3) How do you think the various big faiths would react to the sudden awakening of near eternal legendary "heroes"? Thanks :) |

I have a pretty good understanding of the setting but I'm not used to running such high level games in it, and I'm seeking some help on a few things. 1) What kind of things could challenge such a high level group? Dragons? Demons? Dragons, Lords of Dust, Daelkyr, planar adventures (incursions or excursions), the Dreaming Dark and Riedra, Xen'drik's giants, the Mournland, Frostfell (only one exploration team ever returned), Lady Vol, Mordain the Fleshweaver, the Lord of Blades, the Demon Wastes, a tarrasque, House Deneith attempts to use military force to seize control (which houses aid in creating a mercantile five nations, and which oppose?), King Kaius has finally given into his vampiric nature and wages war with legions of undead, Merrix d'Cannith has created an army of bizzare warforged-like beings and seeks to take control of House Cannith by force. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. 3) How do you think the various big faiths would react to the sudden awakening of near eternal legendary "heroes"? Sovereign Host- Not really sure. They kinda lack a drive, they're mostly passive gods. They are part of the world, so the world and everything in it is their work. Church of the Silver Flame- Nothing better to fight off the powerful fiends of the Lords of Dust. Blood of Vol- Vol sees their power, and wants their help. They refuse to help. Vol is angry. Vol attacks. Maybe turns them into vampires, hopefully faring better than with Kaius. Thanks :) You're welcome. |

There's been no one that has mounted a real expedition into that place. Find the lost dwarven homeland, a group of giants that missed the corruption of Xen'drik (Primordial template, see Secrets of Xen'drik), and of course white dragons of enormous size. Argonessen. No one has ever returned, but has anyone of L15 ever been there? Imagine trying to dodge dragon death squads. You can introduce the Spawn of Tiamat from MM4 there, too. Sarlona. There are high level characters in Sarlona. You can easily justify high level threats there. It's ultra-paranoid and a real challenge. The restrictions on high level in Eberron has been entirely misinterpreted. The entire point was to not have high level NPC's like Elminster for the PC's to fall back on if they mess up. There's no problem with high CR threats in Khorvaire itself. |
| OctaviusIII08-23-07, 12:28 AM | Our campaign involved a fading society of elves that that lived in the shadows of the world - one city remained, and it was under a mountain in a secluded valley with a perpetual blizzard going on outside. They sought to enter the Womb of Eberron to remake the world by speaking the creator's tongue in its presence, wiping away some of its taint. Another good one? Tarrasque on a rampage. Also, the Host doesn't really have a unified direction, but they do have tendencies of belief (think Protestants). These legendary heroes would probably be received as people blessed by the gods, true expressions of whichever god they most resemble. Not avatars, but paragons, certainly. |
| nightside_samurai08-23-07, 12:59 PM | Just to give more info, this is the current group composition: Human Cleric / Radiant Servant of The Sovereign Host Drow Monk (Invisible Eye variant) (unsure) Druid / Master of Many Forms Halfling Barbarian / Heir of Siberys I think it'll turn out well. I'm gonna start with them being suddenly free from their prison and find themselves somewhere in Xen'drik. |
