| SwarthmoreDB02-26-07, 12:48 AM | So, I will be playing in a new Eberron campaign. I wish to play a character that is connected to either the Blood of Vol or the Order of the Emerald Claw. I am likely to play a character that is either LE or NE, and the race is likely a tiefling (descended from an erinyes) or fey-blooded (descended from a nymph). The character build can be seen here (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=794133). My main concern here is: what would the agenda of the BoV or the EC be if they were trying to capture devils and demons (from Shavarrath) and nymphs (likely from Thelanis), and also for what purpose? The reason why I need this is because I want a good backstory for my character. I want to know if either one of these groups would actually have a good reason to capture other beings for whatever nefarious purposes. In this one, me and the DM have agreed that they are doing this in order to breed a better type of spy. However, I want to make the background a little bit more detailed. So what do you guys about this? |

I'm actually wondering if they'd have a reason for doing that; I mean, I actually think that if the Blood of Vol or Order of the Emerald Claw tried to create a supersoldier or superXXXX (XXXX being spy, bloodline, etc.) they'd probably go with something more like what the Inspired have done and incorporate more bloodlines I guess. I'm really more interested in knowing if fey-blooded creatures would be more useful for them or not really... Or barring that, as I said before, a combination of various creature-types... |

He may be a dead-end in the program, or he could be an important part of the breeding program. I would go with the first one, though, because if it were the latter of the two, I doubt that the Blood of Vol or the Emerald Claw would allow you to be endangered by adventuring. Just an idea. |

If anyone gets the idea that a feytouched might be a better spy, then the next squad of Emerald Claw goons gets ordered to get a fey. Plus, it's largely situated in Karrnath - how many castles are in that land that don't have the obligatory lightning-rod&technomantic-machinery plus a madman who could operate it? |
| Ricohard_Draconis03-05-07, 02:51 AM | extended lifespans of things like fey or even outright immortallity of outsiders must be appealing to the BoV 'death is a curse from the gods' mentality. Perhaps he was an attempt to 'steal' the immortality of an outsider. |
