Just picked up Five Nations recently, and I noticed that there were some discrepancies with the Dark Lantern leaders in the Breland entry and the Sharn Inquisitive articles here on the Wizards pages.

Specifically, Mathurin ir'Saldivar is named in one of the first Sharn Inquisitive articles as the new head of the Dark Lanterns, but he isn't mentioned anywhere in Five Nations.

Has this been addressed anywhere? If not, are there any other known discrepancies between the books and the articles on the website- ie, are we not supposed to consider the information here on the site canon?

I don't think most of the stuff on the site is supposed to be canon, unless you want to treat it as such.

Of course, the Dark Lanterns probably aren't above using misinformation when it suits them. If they want people to think that such-and-such is their new head, why worry about the fact that he isn't? ;)

The Dragonshards are actually canon. Eberron Expanded and others are not. I believe. Anyways I don't see the trouble. From what you said there is no discrepancy.

The leader of the Dark Lanterns is not mentioned in 5N. But he is in an article? Well the Sharn inquisitive isn't canon (again I THINK that because they advance the timeline) so it is up to you if you'd like to include it. Ok so you take the info from 5N and combine it with the article to create a larger more complete picture..? Yes?

It's called 5N not the Dark Lanterns Sourcebook or the Intelligence agencies of Khorvaire. The info on the DL is hardly exhaustive. The info on the site is to supplement the books. Some officially supplement it like Dragonshards and some are just to give DMs like you ideas. If you like Mathurin use him. If you like him as a fake leader to mislead others use him like that.

The Sharn Inquisitive articles aren't canon. They're a source of potential adventure hooks, meant to ask "What if this happened...?"
