Demon in the Flame [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-14-07, 09:21 PM So, I've a campaign on the rise in which High Cardinal Krozen secretly betrays Jaela in an effort to sieze control of Thrane. In my Campaign, he's a major player in the heirarchy of the Silver Torch, the purist, aggressive sect of the Silver Flame religion. Believing he hears the voice of the Flame telling him that it is his turn as the chosen voice, he moves to have Jaela eliminated. As the next highest up in the Church, either he or the Queen would assume control. The Church, having assumed virtually total control of the country, tilts this in Krozen's favour.

This act of evil, combined with his already evil alignment, makes him more susceptible to the manipulations of the demon in the Flame, and will, in the end, result in the Demon possessing Krozen and inevitably being confronted by the PCs. Now, knowing PCs to be pains in the backside, you can bet they'll think first to find a way to incapacitate or seperate the fiend from its host. :rolleyes:

I therefore need ideas as to what this fiend may be. :confused:
I already plan to have it with the possession ability, but depending on the type of outsider and the outcome of other events involving the PCs, I may need to lay out some contingent storylines.

Unlike other Eberron campaigns, this one will likely last until 20th level, so don't worry about gauging power against my players.

(Party composed of an Orc barbarian, and Elven ranger, a goblin rogue, and a changeling wizard/recaster)

Any ideas are much appreciated. Even changes plot-wise.

10-15-07, 07:50 PM Sounds like fun. I actually wouldn't mind hearing how that plays out down the road.

As far as Fiends go, I believe that Dragons of Eberron goes into more detail about some of the more powerful Demons/Devils/Fiends/Rajahs/whatever during the age of Demons. That could give you a good idea of what kind of nasty things used to roam across Eberron.

Or you could just use any really powerful fiendish being as the base stats, and change the appearance/name/fluff as you feel would be appropriate. I think it was a powerful Rhaksasha that was sealed into the Flame.

10-16-07, 06:36 AM The Lords of Dust article in Dragon #337 had stats on several of the Rajah. They were roughly in the CR 30 range. It didn't mention who was in the flame though.
