...so one my PCs failed a jump check at the climax of a running battle scene in an abandoned archeological dig in some hobgoblin ruins beneath Korundas Gate in the Mror Holds.

Having failed, he fell into a big ass crater.

After the game, we agreed that I would not kill his character (a halfling rogue with the aberrant dragonmark of cause fear), but in return can do whatever I want to him...bwaaahahahahAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAco ugh cough hehehehe...

So far my plan is something like this:

- He awakens in a sunny glade, having his wounds tended by a lovely halfling maiden. She seems to be applying bandages to some of the more severe wounds. He is gently delivered back to his companions. In reality, it's a mindflayer or some other aberration applying symbiots or parasites that turn true dragonmarks into aberrant marks, a sort of dragonmarked virus. Or maybe gives aberrant marks to those who have no marks.

Other possibilities include:

1. A friendly dragon (perhaps disguised as whatever) who needs a warning sent to Argonessen regarding weakening demon containment

2. A forgotten hobgoblin monestary, the last few masters of which keep watch on a daelkyr or a Xoriat manifest zone

3. Thousands upon thousands of defunt undead, mounted on the walls of the caverns, set here during the Last War by Karrnath in secret alliance with a dwarf clan other than Kundarak (or maybe Kundarak)
