| skrap-san12-19-07, 08:14 PM | I know about Jhonen Olain's webpage (http://www.coveworld.net/eberron/index2.html) and his demographics calculator (http://www.coveworld.net/eberron/demographics.html) that most likely is based on this (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20040712a) dragonshard. But is there one out there that calculates with the classes from other sourcebooks like the complete series PHB2 Tome of battel etc? I have tried to look around a bit on the forums, but so far nothing. |

Probably the best way to look at it is to treat the alternative classes and Prestige Classes in a similar fashion. Basically figure something on the order of 5-10% of a given character class-group (e.g. Fighter) are either nonstandard variant classes (e.g. Scout), or have a Prestige Class (e.g. Kensai/Weapon Master). If you're feeling generous, maybe 10% of each. In a small area, unusual circumstances notwithstanding, you're probably not going to find any nonstandard classes. An unusual circumstance might be something like a "closed town" supporting a Cannith research facility (inspired by the Russian equivalents in the 70s and 80's...entire towns populated by nuclear physicists, mathematicians, and their families). Or Stormreach. In a big place like Sharn, you'll likely have more than enough to have a couple of folks with unusual backgrounds... Using Jhonen's randomizer, a metropolis of 275,000 ended up with a little over 100 Fighters. I could easily see that getting divided up...maybe 50 straight Fighters, 20 multi-classed Fighters, 20 Exotic Fighters (a couple Swashbucklers, a couple Scouts, etc), and another 10 PrC Fighters. In the end, I guess it boils down to how common you think the nonstandard Base Classes and Prestige Classes are. A capital city probably has more diplomat and spy-types around, for instance. |

And thanks for the feedback. |
