| korcheck06-28-07, 01:46 PM | In my campaign I have a group of 3rd lvl pc's that are traveling through this area on the way to the demon wastes for a quest I wish get them to 5th or 6th lvl before they get there so what I would like to know is what kind of things can I have them run into in their travels. one thing I am thinking of is having them travel through a currupted zone/ swamp land in which they face a sort of swamp kraken/abberation. perhaps running into a were-creature of some kind does anyone have any other suggestions that might be different than he usual same old forest encounters? |

The corruption in the forest is spreading from the valley that leads to the Demon Wastes the first signs of this are an abbundance of horrid creatures as you suggested shady and perhaps some twisted forest creatures like treant or dryads eventually leading to the swampland I spoke of. By the way what do you think of my swamp kraken idea or is there something else that would better fit this idea. Before this area they'll encounter some fairie type creatures and regular creatures like a pack of rabid wolves fleeing the corruption. How does that sound? |

Why would corruption cause the horrid animals? They're a Gatekeeper creation. Well unless you've changed that in your campaign. Still I'd say the corruption has simply corrupted them and now they're a threat to the party. It could be a side object for the PCs to capture this horrid wolf (or pack of them but that's probably beyond them) so when/if the forest is restored he/she/they can return to protecting it. Perhaps the PCs can be tasked with that by the awakened horrid wolf who was the former alpha of the pack and supplanted by something "darker." Or the horrid wolf is all that's left of a pack and driven into a frenzy by rage, fear, pain etc. Subduing would be best but not a necessity. If they want to just kill it that is acceptable even if it upsets any Gatekeepers. Swamp Kraken is nice. I can't think of anything better suited off the top of my head. I'm picturing LOTR at the doors of Khaza-dum. :) |
| korcheck06-29-07, 10:59 PM | Excuse me, I mistook what the horrid animals were and did not know the history I believe that there is a type of corrupted animal that is in one of the MM's or some such I'll have to find them though. I thought this is what you spoke of. Or rather there is a template that can be applied to an animal for this effect. |
