I'm creating a character for an upcoming Eberron game who has recieved music education at a prestigious school of music. My primary issue is that I don't know of any conservatories or music acadamies in Eberron. A friend of mine mentioned Morgrave University, but I thought that that was a magic school. Are there any famous schools in Eberron where music is a strong focus? Any conservatory, music academy, bardic college etc. will do. Any and all help you can render would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.:)

I am fairly sure that a specific city or school was not mentioned in any of the books as being well known for teaching music(I don't own them all so I could be wrong). Although I would be very suprised if Houses Thuranni & Phiarian didn't have multiple schools that taught music and arts throughout Khorvaire.

And if you want a very interesting character they could have learned from the Great Goblin Dirge Singers from Darrguun, having seen first hand how their soldiers gained the inspiration needed to overcome impossible odds.

I'm sure there is something in each of the capitols. Thronehold might have something really great, as the center of Galifar, although I don't know the city's current status.

Any of the larger cities and schools would probably have something as far as music goes, with the possible exceptions of Gatherhold and the Crag. If you're going for orchestra, probably the best bet would be Sharn (can't go wrong with Sharn) or Fairhaven. Karrlakton might also have something interesting up its sleeve...

The Demesne of Music in Flamekeep would easily be one of the best. You can find it in the dragonshard (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20050207a) on House Phiarlan, Part Two. It's difficult to get into as a non Phiarlan, but possibly: you need 8 ranks in Perform. Or your DM's approval, if you want this at level 1.

As far as canon goes I don't think you'll find a lot more besides what's written in the the parts about Phiarlan and Thuranni (and to tell you the truth I even doubt the amount of material you'll find in there).

My best advice would be to get creative- Come up with your own music school, locate it in an appropriate location and give it some background. Personally I'd locate the school either in Breland, Thrane, Aundair, or Lhazaar. They are the ones which seem most likely to have prestigious school of music in them.
If that's too much for you, or if it's more then you need, you can always just say the character studied at a Phiarlan enclave near her/his home, excepted for her/his amazing talent despite the fact s/he's not a Phiarlan.

IA friend of mine mentioned Morgrave University, but I thought that that was a magic school.

I was under the impression that Morgrave uni was a more general university than just magic. But on the other hand, there is bardic music, and I would be surprised if they did not have one or two classes covering that in there.

Other than that, I would guess that Cyre was THE place to be if you were going for an artistic career. But that is gone now, even though its only two years ago.

Other than that I would agree that there should be a university of at least the local song and dance in each capitol. Especially in Darguun.

Skrap beat me to it, but yes, Morgrave is a general university, not just magical.
