| retillin04-18-07, 03:14 PM | Granted I'm kinda new to Eberron but I was wondering what is the highest level NPC you know of in the world. I'm not talking about CR. So no Vol, or Dragons or demons. I'm talking about classed NPCs with no templates. I know of the one in Doaama(sp sorry dont have my books on me). He's an 18th level elf wizard but that's about it. any thoughts? |
| Nived04-18-07, 03:20 PM | Moradin? Yeah he's 18th level Transmuter, he's the highest level living spellcaster I know of off hand. Within Flamekeep Jaela speaker of the flame is a 18th level Cleric, but only in Flamekeep, outside its walls she's level 3. Hassalac Chaar of Stormreach is a 12th level "Sorcerer or Warlock" in Stormreach, and is probably the highest level Kobold in Eberron. From what I've heard there are some seriously high level psion NPCs in Secrets of Sarlona but I haven't seen the book anywhere in my region. |
| Vharuck04-19-07, 11:53 PM | Isn't there a 20th level commoner on the Sharn Council? |
| dunkeykong04-20-07, 12:32 AM | Isn't there a 20th level commoner on the Sharn Council? one of the very few commoners who is actually an equal match for a house cat. |
| Shady31404-20-07, 06:05 PM | Isn't there a 20th level commoner on the Sharn Council? The mayor I believe. |
| Daydreamer04-21-07, 12:33 AM | the great druid of the wardens of the wood is 20th. also, the rajah lords have class levels, and are epic powered, but they are trapped. But they are 'classed creatures' not just epically powerful monsters. and sarlona has several characters hovering around 20th level. and Hassalac Chaar is at least '12th' level, in the books keith baker wrote it would be implied that hes quite a big stronger than that. |
| OneWinged4ngel04-23-07, 05:01 AM | The mayor I believe. Actually, no, it's a restauranteur. Maza Thadian, Elf Commoner 17th. |
| DwarfPcfan04-23-07, 11:25 AM | There is an inspired lord in Sarlona that is a 20th level psion who's quori possessor is a type of quori (can't remember the name) with a cr of 20 So that would make her a Cr 27-28 easy:eek: :surrender . without going a lot further. there is an old gold dragon loremaster 11, an illithid psion 6 (works off to psion 14 or 15 in power). then there are the rackshasa rajahs, the other dragons of argonessen and the dreaming dark Yeah eberron has no potential for epic level play... right... :pbbbtt: :bored: Who ever said that that eberron has not space for epic level games was way off... |
| Shady31404-23-07, 05:30 PM | Actually, no, it's a restauranteur. Maza Thadian, Elf Commoner 17th. My mistake. Thanks for finding that. To attempt to redeem myself I offer Kestia female elven magewright lvl 18 on pg. 52. and Lan hazal a human male adept lvl 18 on pg. 93,94. Two of the highest level though not most powerful NPCs in the entire setting. |
| OneWinged4ngel04-23-07, 09:59 PM | Who ever said that that eberron has not space for epic level games was way off... Very true. Eberron has *tons* of room for games of epic level. The only difference between it and some other settings is that when we're talking epic in Eberron, we're talking *actually* epic and world-changing, instead of "just now getting as powerful as the usual human king" a la FR, where, as one of my players put it, "those damn wizards up in their towers and those ****in' druids in the woods have the power to end drought, placate the hungry, cleanse the waters, light the night, and blur the line between poor and wealthy..... those kings with the power to bend reality to their whims.... they all just sit there with their thumbs up their ass and their noses in the air." In Eberron, Epic actually means something... and some people have this insane idea that if you can't have the arbitrary CR 20 police come down to control "out of control" (more often than not "deviating from the arbitrary railroad") PCs that a game isn't possible. That's where the whole "Eberron can't have epic" sort of thing comes in. From 50 HD daelkyr to Rakshasa Rajahs to the Dreaming Dark to the Titans of Xen'drik to restarting the Last War to apocalyptic extraplanar invasions... there is *plenty* of epic material to go around. You don't need the world to be full of arbitrarily high leveled people in order to have an epic game. |
| DwarfPcfan04-24-07, 10:32 AM | Well said OneWinged4ngel:cool: FR gives the excuse that the reason that epic level Npcs don't do anything is that they know some other epic dude will likely try to stop them, or they simply don't care. What, seems to me like a catch all excuse so that pcs get their quests from these high level buggers. If you did have the patience to climb the higher echelons of power seems to me like it would only be natural that you would have goals of epic proportions instead of sitting around sipping coke in your tower (true fact in the case of Eliminster) But thankfully, I switched to Eberron and never regretted it. Yes, Eberron has plenty of space for epic level games. Just read the stuff on the other planes and a million ideas pop into your mind. As a matter of fact, going epic in Eberron really gives characters the feeling they achieved something and the sensation of being important. |
| rabidclipper04-24-07, 12:09 PM | I would suggest Havakhad, a Psion (seer) 12 at the Shrine of the Pth of Light in Sharn's Overlook district. I think the commanders of the Redcloaks are similarly around level 15-18 or something, albeit with some NPC levels... hell your average Redcloak is like 12th, at CR 11 or so with NPC levels... The Mourning Circle is led by a Daelky 1/2 blood Psion 12 as well... the duaghters of Sora Kell have a pile of class levels ON TOP OF being ridiculously powerful 1/2 fiendish hags... who else.... there is a rogue mind seed, a changeling former agent of the chamber, who is a telepath 15 (he's in Secrets of Sarlona).... the du'ulora champions' are walking around in HOSTS who are psychic warrior 12's without even touching the abilities of the quori itself... let me see... there is also a cleric of the Dragon Above.... level 16 I think, in Sharn and PGtE gives several NPC champions of the Gatekeeper and Children of Winter who are about level 12 or so, as well as the one Ashbound assassin who is running around AUndair offing wizards.. she's about 13 with prestige class levels and all... |
| Seghan04-26-07, 09:43 PM | the great druid of the wardens of the wood is 20th. Yeah, he's a huge tree. That is the highest NPC I've heard of. And Epic levels are awsome in Eb. It is great to have a setting where the switch to epic actually means that the game setting changes |
