Just had a crazy idea the other day...

So the way the progenitor dragons came about was that Khyber busted up Siberys, and then Eberron wrapped around Khyber to keep him under control.

Well, what if Khyber is hollow? Say we assume that Khyber ate Siberys' heart, and tore the body apart (accounting for the rings of Siberys). Obviously, Siberys' heart is going to give Khyber some digestive problems, and he's also going to try to push his way out of Eberron any way he can--meaning that he's going to expand as far outwards as possible--creating a void in the center...

A Hollow World--with the still beating heart of Siberys floating in the center...

Thoughts?

Silly bunny, the Heart of Siberys is in Xen'drik, where it fell from the sky and smooshed the Qabalrin elves, ending their civilisation.

Even so, the idea of Khyber as a world within a world is immensely workable.

Either as:

-Twisting passages of the endless caverns of Khyber.
-The inside of the shell of Eberron, with a pulsing black sun at the centre.
-Uncountable impossible dimensions folded within the world.

I once read the series of Weiss and Hickman. I believe the English titel is "The portal of Dead". In one of the worlds described in that book was a hollow world as well, which I really liked. It's really workable indeed and it can give a nice extra dimension to Eberron.

I like these options, it actually sounds like a fine opportunity to put the Manual of the Planes to work.

I hate to suggest anything as trite as a Bizzaro world, but I do have in my head an image of a mirror image of the surface world, matching geography and all. In this case, however, probably only exotic monsters would live there (githyanki, etc?)
It could be so similar that the PC's could still think they are on the surface world and something has gone wrong. Perhaps they had ventured into the Demon Wastes and down a cavern, got turned around and emerged out the bottom thinking it's the top. Bizzaro Demon Wastes isn't all that different, but they see a black sun and figure there must be some sort of grand magic at work. So they hustle to Fairhaven to consult with the wizards, and, oops, no Fairhaven. It could take a whole set of adventures for the PC's to figure out what is going on, as they keep looking for people and figure out what has happend to what they think is the surface world. And you don't tell the players about any of this OOG. I mean, they keep on trying to "fix" things, nothing works, they think the world is doomed, all the cities are gone or misplaced, there are no humanoids around, the sun is black and the sky is red or whatever and everything is different by a few degrees. How freaked out would they be. Then, eventually, some clever PC figures out what is going on, then back to the Demon Wastes and back through to the surface world (a whole adventure in itself) and on to the next round of regular adventures.

Sorry about the ramble, but this has me excited now.:dancin:

unless that's not the Real Heart--it's just a kidney stone.

-Uncountable impossible dimensions folded within the world.I was thinking along the lines of a traditional Hollow World, with portals at the poles, but with some deep caves leading there elsewhere...

This way, one could populate it with Giants, descended from the settlements in the Everice, and with Dwarves, who emerged from Frostfell.

Or perhaps he threw down the one he kept on his shelf in a jar.

Indeed. Something that big has a LOT of blood to pump--perhaps several hearts existed. But the giant kidney stone obliterating a civilization is just too funny.

Now there's an idea: collection of Syberis shards in an attempt to reassemble him. :)

I don't think that would be possible--the shards are both inside of Khyber and outside of Ebberon, plus those that have fallen to the planet.

But the idea of the fusion of both Siberys and Khyber energies would allow you to play with some of the nastier, freaky monsters out there...

I don't think that would be possible Still, it's a good enough basis for a Syberis cult. :)

eh, I dunno... even loony toons would quickly come to the conclusion that such a task would be impossible...

however....

If we hearken back to Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, we can see that it is possible to ressurect once dead beings of enormous power by reuniting five body parts... what were they... the Claw, the Bone, the Heart, the Eye, and... what was the last one... someone help!
