| Pivotal03-03-07, 04:20 PM | Anyone want to give me ideas for missions or even better storylines for a Karrnathbased party at lvl 6 and upwards? (Even focus on roleplaying/combat preferably). |
| Artector03-03-07, 04:28 PM | Have them check out the stone northern Karrnath that grows. (I can't remember the name right now) Karrnath could wish to re-start the Last War. The PCs could go sabatoge the other nations and provoke them into war, so Karrnath wouldn't be ganged up on. The PCs could start small, start doing more as they gain levels. And it'd let you travel around Khorvaire. Are there any preferences for your group? |
| Pivotal03-03-07, 05:14 PM | Hmm.. I like the idea of sabotage.. perhaps let them stay a few levels Karrnath doing some tasks for some warlords and for others to gain some fame and reputation and then get some more shady sabotage stuff from Higher ups. Perhaps I can have their missions be have consquenses they werent aware of as well, as in they only know things on a need to know basis. Suggestions on missions for the warlords? Suggestions on what kinds of sabotage I could have them do? |
| Dragom03-07-07, 01:27 AM | Interferance with a new bridge linking Thrane and Karrnath? But there is still so much work to be done with the Mad Stone, rooting out Emerald Claw cells, fending off Feral Halflings and those thrice da**ed Valenar, tussles with the Black Lanterns, running battles with Aundairan mounted air raiders, Keeping trade routes open by dealing the Sahagin and that Kraken... And of course any work one can get from the Twelve. The institute above Korth? |
| Seghan03-07-07, 10:55 AM | Karrn agents giving quiet and anonymous assistance to the Swords of Liberty. Once they secretly help advance the republicans to open civil war agains the monarchists, Karrnath can overtly step in on the side of the crown, and the covert and overt agents can puppetmaster the Brelish factions until Breland tears itself apart. That's one big threat down. |
| Vharuck03-07-07, 09:22 PM | Here's one of mine I originally posted in an adventure seed list one the 2nd page of this forum, but it fit your request so I'm copying it. The Gray Grin: Despite the Treaty of Thronehold, a certain ship still continues the war: the Gray Grin. Captained by Kuskan ir'Jornah (a male dwarf bone knight, see Five Nations) and his first mate Vespera Vance (a female human cleric), the Karrnathi ship sails the waters and attacks vessels from "enemy nations." Aside from the captain and Vespera, the boat's only sailors are undead. While most are Karrnathi skeletons and zombies, a few other more sinister atrocities are rumored to man the ship, undead with spellcasting powers. Despite their shady company, Kuskan and Vespera have become rogue heroes to Karrns displeased by their king's suddenly peaceful actions. Many Karrns still think there is a war, and the two renegades have become the generals of it. The PCs may hear of this boat and be comissioned to put an end to its reign of terror over peaceful trading vessels, or they may be forced to deal with Kuskan's personal war when he sets his sights on their ship. Either way, the PCs will come to know why sailors across Khorvaire are full of dread when spotting the ship's namesake black sail featuring a gray, grinning skull. While the encounter with the Gray Grin may be a one-time affair, it could also raise many more mysteries: why did the two "loyal" Karrns not return to Karrnath when ordered by the king himself? Are they secretly members of the Order of the Emerald Claw? If the rumors about spellcasting undead are true, where did a vessel only officially given Karrnathi skeletons and zombies acquire them? Did the Blood of Vol supply them with these units, or is Vespera a more powerful necromancer than most thought? |
| Pivotal03-08-07, 11:55 AM | I probably should have mentioned already that the party is mainly evil aligned or chaotic, misguided kind of good at best. But yeah your ideas so far has helped a bit though I would really appriciate more. |
| Melvin the Mediocre03-08-07, 12:19 PM | Do they want to retart a war, would they try to keep it from restarting, or do they care? Secretly, a Karrnath warlord could be working with a priest of the Whispering Flame to rekindle the war. The Warlord is extra secretly involved with the Emerald Claw. By their arrangement, Claw agents dress like standard soldiers and attack spots chosen by the priest of the Whispering Flame, then retreat to Karrnathy soil and melt away. The priest whips Thrannish citizens into a frenzy demanding retribution. Kaius denies the attacks are coming from his armies. The warlord/Emerald Claw guy stirs his peers to prepare their armies to defend against a Thrannish invasion. The priest cries this is proof of a pending full scale attack. The scenario is now a ticking time bomb and a restart of the war seems impossible to avoid. If the PC's can root out the Emerald Claw as the source of the attacks, they can choose to expose the terrorists and avert the war. If the PC's trace the orders of the Emerald Claw all the way back to the preist or warlord, they will have a lot more power - they could actually defuse or ignite the passions of both countries as they see fit. |

At the hands of the war thirsty warlords, or anti-necro factions who have discovered Kaius' vampiric nature, or anti-necro factions still peeved over the line's introduction of undead. In all three cases, the players could consider themselves Karrn patriots. BTW, anti-necro is the actual name of a faction IMC. |

BTW, anti-necro is the actual name of a faction IMC. i like this idea, a lot. the other two are clearer forms of patriotism, which could possibly lead to King Kaius himself commending them. but in your idea, they can consider themselves patriots, but will have to work to get the rest of the nation to realize that what they did isn't treason and why they shouldn't be executed for this most henious crime! basically, on top of the task of killing Kaius, you'd have to make everyone in Karrnath believe he was a Vampire and that he made a deal with Erandis d'Vol...and from there your hook possibilities are damn near endless! civil war in Karrnath, Karrnath decarling war on the Emerald Claw (and by association Blood of Vol and Erandis herself) or just sending the PCs to deal with Erandis on behalf of Karrnath since they have already started down that path...damn, i might steal some of these for myself! i have a Karrnathi Military Academy Honor Graduate in my party (half-elf warmage.) |
| Seghan03-08-07, 11:53 PM | Thank you for the kind words Robot, I hope the ideas help your campaign. My primary character is a Karrn expat who remains a staunch nationalist, so I spend quite a bit of time thinking about that particular country. |
| Pivotal03-14-07, 07:20 PM | Thank you for your ideas so far :) But does anyone have ideas for a more roleplaying mission? A sabotage mission where they have to use their brains for puzzles, diplomacy, roleplaying, etc. 6th level party with a morally gray alignment still. Under command of a Warlord. |
| Melvin the Mediocre03-26-07, 04:30 PM | In order to establish better trade agreements with Captain Smytes of the Lazzar Principalities, the warlord sends the PC's to negotiate. However Smytes can't do any better on account of the fierce competition he is facing from Captain Willior. Now if Willior was out of the picture, better trade agreements could certainly be reached. Of course if the other pirates, I mean merchants, from the Prinicipalities learn that representatives of Karrnath were responsible for Willior's dissapearance, then all the captians, including Smytes, would cut off trade and start ransacking ships all along the northern coast. That would not please Kaius, which would not please the warlord. |
| maollelujah03-28-07, 11:01 AM | When a distant cousin of the King, Estaff ir'Wynarn's body was found in alleyways of Rekkenmark, local officials expected a Royal Inquiry it the suspicious death, they were shocked when the King himself came. The secret they don't know is that this is the third death of a member of the ir'Wynarn family in Karrnath. One in Stormwatch, One in Fairhaven, and now one in Karrnath itself. There was also an attack on Taius ir'Wynarn, another cousin, in Korth last month who survived thanks to a squad of White Lions that stumbled upon the attack. This attack wasn't wasn't reported to the public, but some in the King's circle believe this might be related to the previous attacks. Although all were cousins of the current king and no attacks have been conducted at the King's immediate family, the King started to become worried that is only a matter of time before his brother Kaius or sister Haydith will be targeted. Are the deaths just random occurrences? Are there any tell tale traits in each murder which could help identify those responsible? How are they tracking the whereabouts of the ir'Wynarn family? What family member is next? Well these are the questions King Kaius has asked the party as he instructs them to look into the suspicious deaths. |
