| DrunkMonk05-14-07, 10:47 PM | I know that a hundred other threads have probably covered this, but I could not find them. The question comes down to how do the rules about manifest zones work in the mournland. Do the mournland rules trump everything else? Can there be a twisted zone rule? What about an especially strong permanent manifest zone link to Irian (possible place to recover and heal)? We were going to bring this up for the players from the backside, the good guys are going to contacted by Lycanthropes from Lamannia or Fey from Thelanis, complaining that there is a “reverse manifest zone” on there plane of existence. Where there once was a permanent link to Cyre, now the Mournland is bleeding into their world. They need to get someone to break the connection or cure it somehow. Anyway, any input that people might have would be greatly appreciated. DM |
| Adamaro2305-15-07, 04:26 AM | well, if you're DMing you could alter the rules a little to get this to work. It sounds like an awsome idea (Lycanthropes/Mournland thing), sorry i can't help with a more rules-specific answer. Hope it turns out :) |
| naturax05-15-07, 10:22 PM | Dear DrunkMonk, I hereby give you permission to create corrupted manifest zones in the Mournland exactly as you have described. Further, I grant you permission to change anything as written in any sourcebook or other source as you see fit in order to meet the needs of your campaign. Sincerely, Naturax |
| Cifer05-17-07, 06:00 AM | @Naturax Is this in coordination with the Prime Minister of D&D? Have you filled out form 38-b? In triplicate? I'll check, you know? |
| Vharuck05-17-07, 01:24 PM | The Mournland has two rules: Rule #1: No healing (exceptions have been made, but you're free to ignore them). Rule #2: Except for Rule #1, there really are no rules. You can not only have the manifest zone in the Mournland, but have it be a pseudonatural creature with no mental stats whatsoever that can tip its hat to the players. I have no idea how you'd actually accomplish that, but you really can do it. |
| DrunkMonk05-18-07, 05:07 AM | Are you suggesting a Living Manifest Zone like a living spell? Wow, thats something I dont think I would have ever come up with in 100 years. Thanks for all the suggestions so far. dm |

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. dm Actually, I think I just suggested something that can't possibly be done with the rules. Even with an amazing amount of bending them. But it's the Mournland, so it's ok. :D |
| tallric_kruush05-19-07, 02:19 PM | DrunkMonk, I really like your idea of the Mournland (or at least some of it's properties) bleeding into Lammania or Thelanis. This is a good way to have a party in/from the Eldeen get into some good globe-hopping (and plane-hopping for that matter). I may use this.:tiphat: |
| yrogerg05-23-07, 06:07 PM | Oddly enough, a campaign I was in took the opposite tack; Our DM homebrewed that one effect of the Mourning was to sever or destabilize the Mournland's link to the Astral plane. This meant no manifest zones, but it also gave him a reason to restrict extra-dimensional space cheese and an explaination for why divinations fail. It also meant that the only way to travel into and out of the Mournlands quickly was Shadow Walking through the Shadow Mournlands, a tactic that is extremely dangerous, and equally awesome. |
