I'm looking for a pretty cold place in Khorvaire. Some (preferably lots), of snow and darkness. Granted on where Khorvaire is on the map, it's as far as I know a problem. I'm not looking for like.. Alaska. But anyone have some suggestions on somewhat cold regions in Khorvaire (and pretty desolate). I thought maybe the Demon Wastes, however thats pretty rocky, volcanic, etc.. as I take it. Lhazaar Principles maybe, but the region's 'culture' would cause a bit of a problem. Anyone have some ideas?

Karnnath is supposed to have some very stormy winters. I'm sure the Mror Holds has its share of nasty cold weather as well. Northern-most Thrane, Aundair (excepting Lyrandar's island), and the Eldeen Reaches would also be likely candidates for ample snowfall.

The east-European/Soviet vibe I personally get from Karnnath would make it my personal choice. An excuse to have people wearing heavy coats and fur hats with the ear flaps, with a red hounds head on the front.

Well, the stretch going from the northern Mror Holds through to Stormreach is at roughly the same latitude as Newfoundland & Labrador, which both get pretty bloody cold and dark. On the European side, they're the same as Moscow or North Germany, which also get pretty bloody cold and dark.

I'd stay with one of the northerly Lhazar Islands. Isolation only enhances desolation. The nihilism of some of the natives should only enhance the sense of dread.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I hadn't really considered 'elevation' because I couldnt find something specific about how high certain regions are. But really helped me. Thank you

Well, the stretch going from the northern Mror Holds through to Stormreach ...

Psst! He means Stormhome... ;)

Heh, I've even played a Lyrandar character and I still get that mixed up all the time!

My first thought was definitely the Mror Holds, followed by northeastern Karrnath. The upper Eldeen Reaches, going towards the Demon Wastes, woudl really only be good if you wanted a near-complete lack of civilization.

Thank you, sir. That's why it won a contest. :)

But back on track... I'm now very curious about why a cold place in Khorvaire is needed in the first place. What nefarious cold-weather plot is the OP cooking up??

I suddenly got a very creepy image of the streets of Korth or Rekkenmark, all scary gothic architecture, buried under a blanket of fresh snow, bitterly cold, lit by only the soft glow of everbright lanterns...very noir...I like it!

Even better, full on blizzard...any sane person shut indoors with a fire ablaze...the adventuring party braving the snow and wind, for what purpose?
