Zilargo Stuffed Quail: Quail stuffed with highly seasoned brown rice with nuts, snails, and dried fruit cooked in an unglazed clay pot until slightly crispy. The dish is traditionally served with sauteed water spinach and a savory cherry-wine sauce.

RedRider 02-09-08, 08:09 AM	If ever you find yourself staying in an area of the Shadow Marches where the Xoriat cults are common, avoid the "Mystery Meat" at all costs. In fact, bring your own food. Those of a nervous disposition may wish to ward it against transmutation effects.
OctaviusIII 02-09-08, 03:29 PM	Well, other than the basics (bread+cheese, bread+sausage) you're going to have some dishes that are quite similar and some that really... aren't. Similar: spaghetti and other wheat-noodle dishes. They're old Cyran dishes. Nothing too fancy, of course, but definitely there. 'Different': Hadrasaur cheek. They spend most of their lives chewing, so it's somewhat difficult to cook but quite succulent, if done right. Found in Gatherhold and some of the more exotic restaurants in cities with a reasonable Talenta population.
skrap-san 02-09-08, 07:44 PM	I would see kraken meat involved in a series of fine dishes. It has a certain sting to its taste, but once you get used to it it is quite tasty. (besides it costs heavenly since so many people die trying to catch it).
Edymnion 02-09-08, 09:35 PM	Ooh, how about Shocker Lizard steaks? The meat retains a static charge even after death. As long as you butcher the animal with non-metallic implements (stone knives), and avoid metal while cooking and serving it, it gives your mouth a slight shock when you bite into it.

Considering that kraken are deep sea cephalopods they probably contain a large amount of ammonia, rendering them inedible to humans (and probably humanoids in general). That, combined with their rather excellent intelligence would probably make the market for kraken meat rather small indeed.

I submitted Burrowed Bullettes (known as Toad in the Hole in yee ol' Reality), and had a frenchman remark that translates roughly to "burrowed burgers." Still works.
RedRider 02-10-08, 01:59 PM	Just as a note, I think one thing you'd see a lot of in the five nations would be re-designed national dishes. Since the war would have screwed up several trade lines, it was probably difficult to get, say, Karrnathi cheese in Aundair for a good few years. So the Aundarians would have a hard time making popular dishes that originated in Karrnath. Thus you have several dishes with similar but different recipies using local ingredients. Also expect several "Victory Cabbage" or "Freedom Fries" style names for these dishes.
