Hey, haven't posted on the Eb. boards before, but it seems like there's quite a few inventive people floating around here, so I figured I'd throw this out.

I'm running a game for two friends online - it'll mostly be a series of one-shot 'missions' in Sharn, with a very skeletal overarching story. Mainly, it's to have a bit of fun between sessions of our other games.

The idea is that they're a pair of mercenaries willing to do just about anything for cash. Thusly, they'll get offers to go off Mr. X, or recover object Y. Now, I've got a few ideas for targets so far (we're about to start - level one, gestalt), including a recurring character (kobold rogue/artificer - straight up Saw style). I'm also looking into their competition.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for other targets / foes for such a game. I know just about anything goes in Sharn, and some of the standard cliches can be rather fun, but I was struggling a little making them truly rooted in Eberron, specifically Sharn, and not just seeming like some random DnD city.

Any thoughts?

"A Simple Plan"

Councilor Nolan Toronak hires the mercenaries to disguise themselves as warforged and kidnap him from a public restaurant and then safely deliver him to a drop-off point so that his mooks can deliver a ransom letter and smear the warforged badly. The good news is that he'll pay well (or release the lock on their Kundarak bank accounts) if they get him to the drop-off point unharmed and on time. The bad news is that a group of real warforged decide to actually kidnap the Councilor just before the PCs are about to do it.

I ran this myself and it worked great.

here's another thought but first do you have the sharn: city of towers book? if so the names that elude me while I'm at work right now could be inserted as needed through this text. here goes:
the group is hired by the gang of halflings that practically run sharns underground {insert group name} to start taking out members of the gang of monsters from droam {insert group name} that have been systematically taking over the halfling territory. the halflings are hiring out instead of doing there own laundry so they will have plausible deniability as the are not yet prepared for all out war yet so instead of going into areas that were once the halflings own they want your players to go into other areas and hopefully cause enough havoc that the gang of monsters will be forced to pull out on their own from the disputed land to deal with you. this idea is good for whenever yor haven't prepared something because it allows you to just pull homanoid monster out of the MM's as needed. if you set it up as a sort of trophy kill say 10 right ears or scalps equals X money depending on the type of ear. They can do this mission in their spare time.
