Hi everybody, im dming and starting a campaign in sharn. The pictures in the book dont exactly depict where places like dura are and such, I was wondering if anyone had anymore info on the locations. Also if anyone knows of diagrams or pictures on sharn in general it would be really cool if they could post them. Thanks in advance!

Have you read Sharn: City of Towers (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=products/eberron/864200000)?

Plenty of pictures in its art gallery (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ag/20041112a) and maps of the city in its map archive (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/eb/20050211a).

yea sharn city of towers was what I meant by "the book" I should have thought out my post more I was in a rush. The chapter shows pictures of the high mid and low ward but not all the places described in the book are in the wards, and I was kinda hoping for pictures of the entirety of sharn. Maybe I'm just missing something but I couldnt find things like Dura or Morgrave university in any of the map pictures. What im basically hoping for is if someone made a custom map or something of sharn as a whole but with every major place labled.

Theer have been some ideas of people of rendering Sharn in a 3d-engine, but because of the vast scale of Sharn, this hasn't really been started I believe. It's really hard to imagine a city like that, let alone make a drawing/picture of it. I think it's best to be left to the imagination, although I wouldn't be able to resist checking out pictures or 3d-renderings if I knew they existed.

As far as I know there are no official pictures next to the ones in Sharn:City of Towers.

The Sharn Overview map on page 10 shows you where the major divisions of the city are: Central Plateau, Menthis Plateau, Northedge, Dura, Cliffside (technically the lower edge of Dura, below the towers proper), and Tavick's Landing. This is the horizontal disposition of the city.

The vertical disposition of the city runs from Skyway at the top down through the Upper Wards, Middle Wards, Lower Wards, the Depths, and the Cogs.

It's slightly confusing, because Skyway, the Depths, and the Cogs are listed as major divisions in the text from pages 9-11 alongside the "horizontal" districts of the city. This is because they don't belong to any of the separate plateaus - Skyway floats above both Central and Menthis Plateaus on disks of force, and the Depths (which are mostly sealed-off) and the Cogs (below the Depths, and accessible only through large shafts which drill down through the Depths) lie underneath the whole city.

So now consider the map of the Upper Wards on page 37. It's the same map as Sharn Overview, but with the districts of each plateau in the Upper-City listed. Menthis Plateau, for instance, has the districts of Ivy Towers, Seventh Tower, University District, Deniyas, and Platinate.

Confusion can arise from the fact that the maps are given for each vertical level, but each plateau's text entry describing its districts is given in full, from the Upper Wards on down.

If you want to locate something on the map, you have to find it in the text and then locate its given district on the appropriate "vertical map". For instance, Morgrave University (page 70) is in the University District of Upper Menthis Plateau. Directly below it, in Middle Menthis, is the Everbright magical district (page 73). Directly below that, in Lower Menthis, is the Center Bridge residential district (page 75).

Below Lower Menthis as a whole are sealed-off regions of the Depths, and below them lie the Cogs - the enormous district of Blackbones (page 100) is directly below Morgrave University and most of Menthis Plateau, as well as Tavick's Landing.

I'll work up a little table showing the vertical relationships of each district for a later post.

One addition: the Cliffside district of Mud Caves is below and outside of the Lower Tavick's Landing district of Foundation.

I have been buying the Expedition series of adventures as of late. I am thinking of using Undermountain with Sharn as Waterdeep. Or am I off my rocker?

I had the same first thought but then remembered that sharn already has a fairly detailed undercity and if the maps posted on wizards.com are anything to go by the whole dungeon would need to be under the cogs. Personaly I would suggest a differant city. One that hasn't been given as much detail as sharn but is just as important. My vote is for it to be Thronehold. A good sized city that has a major place in Korvair.

Of course if it is anything like the other "expedition" Mods it will have a sugestion on fitting it into Eberron in the book.

The cogs is where the goblinoids and such monsters live right?

I was thinking of altering things a little and merging the Cogs with Skullport. Or just make the Cogs Skullport and go from there.
