Does anyone know of any mention of the Silver Flame doing anything important in Xen'drik? Looking for lost treasures or fighting demons or anything like that? Secrets of Xen'drik doesn't seem to talk about the Silver Flame at all (or if it does, please point out the page to me) and I can't think of any other published material that uses "Silver Flame" and "Xen'drik" in the same sentence.

Essentially I'm trying to come up with a reason for what business a Templar of the Silver Flame would have in Stormreach or Xen'drik. Any ideas? Thanks!

Well, I remember mention of "Silver flame missionaries" in SoX, but that's not much to work with and I suspect it's a product of the "Flame = Catholicism" thinking.

What is important is that you've basically got vast tracts of unexplored and unsupervised land where fiends could be weedling the bound Raksasha Rajahs out of their prisons, away from the eyes of the world.

Also, Thrane's government and, to a lesser extent, the Church of the Silver Flame probably want to get their hands on the magical knowlege and ancient artifacts up for grabs. Either to keep them out of the hands of nefarious enemeies or put them in the hands of virtuous allies.

In either case, a templar could be useful for such tasks.

I don't have SoX on me right now, but I'd think that Host misisonaries would be common too. They tend to do as much missionary work as the Silver Flame, if not more.

Who would they be converting, the giants?

The native populations probably. All those weird creatures that you can't slot into Khorvaire? They probably go to Xen'drik.

So you might see drow, troglodites and yes, there may be giants who could worship the Silver Flame. Of course, they'll probably have a hard time of it unless they take a leaf out of the Soverign Host's book and look for people with similar beliefs they can explain as the Silver Flame's influence.

And of course, there are religions which worship the silver flame who have no tie to the church, such as the barbarin tribes who guard the demon wastes who, lacking a great gout of white fire in the centre of one of their largest settlements, worship the "Binding flame."
If they can find a group of people who also worship the flame in some form they have a new possible ally in the fight against evil who know the lay of the land better.

And of course, just converting more souls to the flame means more to live the good life and fight the good fight.

It's not in SoX, but the Xen'drik Expeditions campaign has a faction, The Covenant of Light, that is very Silver Flame oriented. They're looking for parts of some object or another, that is important for their aspect of a prophecy. Maybe that's helpful in some way.

Just a note, but if the Flame's organisation is Catholic-like, the believes and traditions and customs are of EVERY Book Religions (Christianism, Islam, Judaism) mixed in with Zoroastrism and related believes (the Flamme! if it's not Zoroastrism, with their obsession with pure, holy fires...)

Well, I once had the idea of placing a drow tribe in the north of the continent that follows the Flame. They are more 'civilized' than their barbaric brethren, mostly because they have an ancient couatl that tought them the ways of the Flame and still acts as an advisor.

The tribe's village would be placed near to an old post-dhakaani goblin temple, the only one where the face of the Overthrown has not been scratched of.

I don't remember what I wanted to place in that temple that had to be guarded by the drow, though.

Could very well be. Stormreach does engage in peaceful trade with many giant tribes in the region. Xen'drik is also the "kitchen sink" for many exotic D&D races, so he could be dealing with them. Or even dealing with people coming in and out of port.

Also, conversion is usually the lowest of a missonary's priorities. Most are more concerned with humanitarian tasks such as helping build houses, schools, churches, and tending to the sick, injured, young, and old, including people who are already members of the faith. Stormreach is a growing city, and in missionaries are generally very involved in the establishment of colonies and communities in foreign soil- like the Host's role in Humanity's spread across Khorvaire.

And with all the crazy stuff out there in the Jungle, and some rather shady individuals in and around the city itself, missionaries (most followers of the Flame are experts, and at best, adepts) could benefit from some of the defensive capability a Paladin brings.

There is some Eberron book material related to this. I think it's in the Players Guide but don't remember exactly. But it basically states how there was/is cults based on the couatl sacrifice and the power that binds the demons in Khyber and that these are of course fore runners or alternative versions of the Silver Flame. There's some Codex of these...

Thramzorean, you're remembering the Serpentes Fragments mentioned in, as you say, the Player's Guide to Eberron - page 31.

There are some relevant statements in that section:

The ancient legends of the couatls sacrificing themselves to imprison the fiends within the earth is depicted in the earliest ruins and inscriptions discovered in Xen'drik. Through the millennia, this tale has formed the foundation of many religions among the native races of that continent . . .

. . . [The Serpentes Fragments] are thought to represent the beliefs of a variety of serpent cults, widely scattered geographically and historically . . .

. . . Provost Dannad Mourain of Morgrave University recently published a paper arguing that the Church of the Silver Flame is itself the contemporary form of a Xen'drik serpent cult.

Intriguing! Plenty of reason for the church to sponsor "fact-finding" missions on the continent.

Aren't there some Flame-worshipping Yuan-Ti in Xen'drik? I remember Sarlona mentioning that that continent used to have some Couatl-decended Yuan-ti that fled to Xen'drik, although I think it mentioned they might not worship the Couatls and flame any more.
