| Seghan08-02-07, 01:58 PM | Does anyone have any thoughts on the actual numbers of spellcasters in Khorvaire. I haven't found a lot of canon information concerning this, I imagine that is the sort of thing left to the DM. I have been figuring the actual population of spellcasters on the home continent as a proportion of total population. The two pieces of canon that I have worked off of thus far is the Dragonshards statements that Magewrights are the most common arcane spellcasters and that they comprise 1% of the adult workforce, and the populations of Eldeen Druid sects in the Player's Guide. I ranked all the PHB and ECS base classes according to my own idea of their relative size, and have begun trying to come up with a reasonable size for each group. Thus far, I am guessing that it will be reasonable for magic users to make up around 3% of the total population of my world. I will say that I tend to like to see smaller numbers of magic users in my games and emphasize their disproportionate effect on the world, so that is my prejudice. I am interested to hear what people think about this, and if anyone knows other good canon sources of data I'd like to hear about these too. As I come up with some less preliminary figures of the class by class breakdown, I'd post those too if there is any interest. |
