Inspired by the locked thread in the classes boards, I'd like to tell this little tale.

Unlike what was told in that thread dragons will actually occasionally allow "Annoying little pests" to ride on their back.

Our entire party did so recently.

---

Our tale is one of having our a***s handed to us at every turn, so I'll skip the gargantuan blue dragon that asked us for a "favour," the succubi that sent our tanks against the party, the bone devil nearly finished us off and jump to the interesting part.

The half-dragon we'd come to save (the son of the Gargantuan Blue outside, BTW) was found dead on the floor. Soon after an Aspect of Tiamat attacked us, and thanks to cure critical wounds en mass, buffs and lucky rolls we managed to limp out with his newly-looted corpse over the shoulder (and his stuff in a bag of holding :D ).

We laid the corpse of the dragon's son before her and tried to console her, that at least the one responsible had been slain. Alas, her grief was deep and she asked for a moment to bury her son. Surprisingly, this was the moment when Beren d'Cannith - an artificer of great skill - decided to pull out a scroll of raise dead. "Want me to bring him back?" was his exact, cocky words to the stunned dragon.

Moments later a confused, naked and slightly bruised half-dragon awoke from his trip to Dolurrh and we were given the thanks of both him (though he wondered where his armour had gone) and his mother.

Deciding that the Evil Artifact of YuckinessTM we'd found while searching for the half-dragon had to be destroyed, the dragon offered itself as a mount for us to travel to a Xen'drik vulcano and destroy it there.

Pssh... who's a dragon to tell us what to do? We'll be set off in Sharn, thank you very much. Alas, Beren d'Cannith was grudgingly forced to agree that arriving to "Cannith Enclave 2E" on the back of a dragon might cause more panic than it would add to their "cool factor" and they were set off a small walk from the city.

And thus, the dragon left to speak with her son at great length, hearing the words: "Next time you need help, just come pick us up!" after her from the annoying mortals.

And thus begins the tale of the Dragonrider of Eberron!

---

All of this is exactly what happened.

In case you're interested the party is:
Human Paladin - Knight of the Silver Flame
Silverbrow Human Bard/Marshall - Sentinel Marshall
Half-Ogre Barbarian/Fighter/War Hulk - "Half-Ogre"
Human Artificer - Beren Merchot d'Cannith, rising star of House Cannith
Human Warlock - "Firehands"

Lol,

Nice going, and how does the actual class Dragon Rider come into this picture?
all i see is a piggyback on a dragon, thats not enough to constitute a class or title towards Dragon Rider :uh-huh: :smirk: :teach: :gah: :bump:

Fluff vs. mechanics, eh?

Just realized reading that thread that we're an entire party of Dragonriders...

Mechanics, not withstanding.

Though with the current plot twists I wouldn't be surprised if one of us took levels in Dragon-Rider (Draconomicon)

Even just fluff wise i think it a tad arrogant to call yourself a dragon rider after one flight from 1 continent to another.
(not that that is a feat in and of itself, i grant you that much)
but hey, your game, your fun, call yourself what ever you like :tie:

Meh, my character (Beren Merchot d'Cannith) prefers the title: "Master Artificer"

But he is a dragonrider... telling a dragon (with teeth larger than yourself) where to fly, even though it's not on its route is what I would call a "rider" not a "piggyback-rider"

Hell, we even made several veiled insults at its incapability to think creatively when the idea of using a scroll of Raise Dead was mentioned.

Somehow, I think members of the Chamber are becoming autistic when they hear of our exploits.

That just shows the incompetency of your DM in not properly playing a dragon IMhO:tie:

but as i said, to each his own fun and grace. :plotting:

PS, i don't think dragonriders are remotely appropriate anyway for Eberron.

Pe-shaw!

The people who kill an aspect of a god, showing no wounds for the work (wand of healing FTW!), brings someones son back from the dead and having just avenged the murder of the same mothers son would get a bit of leeway, don't you think?

Also, don't call my DM incompetent. You wouldn't do that if he was present and decent behaviour is a part of the CoC for these boards. Alright?

Hehe, as i said, what ever makes your game float, go for it, i never said that it was wrong in any way.

I would call your DM inept even in his face, it is my opinion, not that i am slagging of him as a person, but just his DM-quality in my eyes, that does not say he is not doing his best for you guys who are the ones playing the game with him :).

I never flamed anybody personally, and i am not insulting 'him' (your DM), i might just not like his quality or style as a DM which is something completely different, and has nothing to do with the decent behavior etiquette you describe :)

As i said, your game is not mine, and it takes all kinds of people to play all kinds of different games, have fun, and don't take my words to heavily.

Good gaming to all you people anyway :smirk:
