| ValaR09-07-07, 11:16 AM | My player, beginner in Eberron, wants to play talenta plains changeling rogue. That is no problem to me, but since my games are just little more roleplayng than hack&slash I need to have good bio for this player's character. So if you have any cool ideas please share them with me. Where is he from(where in talenta plains) ? What is changelinge doing there ? Background of his life... I was thinking that he was born in some halfling tribe and that they treated as their own. But other ideas are more than wellcome. He will, after his first session(whatever that session may be like), go to Sharn so he can meet with rest of the players. So I need reason for that too. Thank you very much and sorry for bad english. :) |
| Kreistor209-07-07, 12:37 PM | Talenta plains? Well, there's one big problem there: the dominant race is halfling, and medium sized changelings can't change their size to small. So you're going to have to get very inventive. I don't have a solution off the top of my head. |
| naturax09-07-07, 01:31 PM | Maybe it would be helpful to understand why the player wants to play a changeling from the Plains. Then you can focus on that for the character history. |
| ValaR09-07-07, 02:24 PM | Well he said he likes talenta plains because of the hlfling culture and natural settings and everything. But in eberron campagin setiings says that there is 4% of population that is changleng. :) So now I have trouble with his bio and he can't create his bio beacouse this is his first time in eberron. |

Whatever, let's just say there is a community of changelings that has their own little nomadic tribe in the plains. Or, among the bigger settlements in the plains where there is a local, permanent population of "big" people a few changelings could be living among them in secret. |
| ValaR09-07-07, 03:14 PM | Why do you think they must live in secret ? :) |
| Alas09-07-07, 03:47 PM | Wasn't there a bit of fluff somewhere about changelings setting up communities in the Talenta Plains where they could just hang out and be themselves? Races of Eberron, perhaps, or the PGtE? They could be a new wave of "experimental" settlers, trying to find their own identity out there in the plains now that the War has ended. |
| naturax09-07-07, 03:52 PM | Why do you think they must live in secret ? :) I am of the belief that if the common person knew that changelings were running around then how could they ever trust that their boss/partner/child/banker/noble/police officer was who they say they are? Everyone would get extremely paranoid and walk around with detect magic spells and stuff, like when the Dominion was a huge threat in DS9. So if changelings are visible, society collapses. Thus, changelings live in secret or stick to themselves, secretly. |
| ValaR09-07-07, 05:37 PM | @Alas hhmm.... I don't have "Races of Eberron", so I dunno what is there about changelings. :weep: @naturax logical enough but I would rather have him in usual sitation of not haveing to hide |
| Kreistor209-07-07, 09:14 PM | Well, at this point, it's entirely up to your personal belief about what is in the Talenta Plains. Not everything in Eberron has been written up and described. Vast stretches are there for you, the DM, to fill in. You could say that they are a tribe of roaming nomads that are allowed to exist by the Halflings thanks to services rendered during the Last War. Or they serve some purpose, like acting as hosts/mediaries for Talenta chiefs. Or they inhabit a ruin and scare the superstitious halflings away. That's three ideas, anyway. |
| Captain_Kobold09-07-07, 10:19 PM | A few options off the top of my head: An employee of House Ghallanda or Jorasco in Gatherhold. A scholar from Morgrave university living with the tribes in order to study their ways. In both of these options the changeling could have "gone native" and adopted halfling customs and mannerisms. A "go-between" used by the tribes and one of the nations that border the plains. Changelings make good diplomats. He could have several different personas, with different looks and mannerisms. Depending upon who he is currently negotiating with at the time. |
| ValaR09-08-07, 08:35 AM | @Kreistor2 I didn't say it has to be by the book, I was just asking you people for smoe creative ideas. :) Hehe, cool idea that one where changleings scare halflings. LOL :D @Captain_Kobold Ok, really fine ideas. THANKS ! I like the one where he studyes halflings for the university, maybe I'll go with that one. It is nice way to develop good, complicated roleplaying game. I will try to go in that direction with some new ideas and good, interesting details. Maybe I change my mind but I doubt it. If you want to give me some advices or ideas fill free to do sow. sry for bad english :P |
