| Gurv10-27-07, 07:18 PM | The description on page 65 of Five Nations mentions several oddities about the Blackcap mountains. Red and green lightning, uncomfortably warm surfaces, and strange sounds from within. Has any other source suggested what might cause these phenomena? The obvious answers include the prison of rajahs or daelkyr, and that answer is good enough for me. But if something else has been eluded to, or if anyone has a better plot... I'm going with the "where those who have stolen great items of power often come to hole up" concept mentioned in the ECS, pertaining to the village of Black Pit. The PCs are looking for the hidden workshop of an Orien artificer. Naturally, this fellow thought it was a fine location, given that he could just teleport there. The PCs are going to take the hard route, racing their rivals and fighting the hazards along the way. |

During the Age of Demons the location was the site of a powerful demonic fortress and a titanic battle, at the end of which the fortress was torn asunder by tremonous magic (think Xen drik), yet parts survived, just bured deep within the rock. Over time, evil as once again found this site and begun preperations to resecure a foothold in the area (hence all the "Sounds of Industry" and "red and Green Lightning rumors). I've actually gotten a ton of ideas from Dragons of Eberron and the main villian from 80's D&D Geek history , but I don't want to spoil too much,....just leave with the BBG being a certain 4 color Archmage that hates Rollercoasters :) |
