Hi all

I have recently (2 games so far) started a mercenary based campaign in Vralkek in Droaam. I've read the short article on the WoTC site but unfortunately don't have much source material (Source book, five nations and explorers handbook).

I'm pretty much winging it as I go but wondered if there is any extra source or maps I can use?

From what I've read it's very 'rough and ready' coastal town with just about any creature you can think of in it's midst. Outside is a shanty town but there is a distinct 'air of authority' there with troll patrols etc.

Also interested in what sort of environment is in the surrounding regions with regards to other war bands either under the sisters control or not, potential threats and general atmospheric source.

Thanks in advance

Not that I know of, but I always have fun making up places, if you want some help on it.

Mr. Bassingtwaithe has given an excellent description on both Vralkek and the surrounding region in his second book The Grieving Tree - surely, you'd want to read this, as it most likely will serve as remarkable inspiration ;)

Agreed. I had just recommended The Dragon Below series in another thread for its depictions of the Eldeen, the Shadow Marches, and Droaam. If you're going to be DMing in Western Khorvaire, his series can provide a wonderful starting point. It is a tremendous help, sometimes, when a novelist gives you a starting point in fleshing-out something as big as this.

That, and his writing is most enjoyable. I especially liked his descriptions of 'typical dnd challenges' looked. HItting things with low armor classes were more"his sword fell with mighty blows" and all that...
