| Erastir09-25-07, 09:34 AM | Hi, yesterday I finally received my copy of expedition to the ruins of Grayhawk. I'm a DM running an Eberron campaign and I'd like to fit the ruins of Grayhawk somewhere. Do you have any ideas and/or suggestions on how to adapt the ruins of Grayhawk to the Eberron world? Thanks. |

Here's my suggestions: Upgrade Xandrar in Breland to a Large City to take the place of Greyhawk itself. Make Zagyg the lord of the city at the beginning of the Last War. His mad experiments were, in theory, supposed to assist Breland in fighting the Last War. He gradually became more and more obsessed with trying to tap the power of the Gods for Breland's benefit. Or becoming a God. Or both. This caused him to neglect the western defenses, contributing to the fall of Western Breland, which is now Droaam. He came to believe that certain rare individuals who attained ludicrously high levels of skill were evolving towards godhood, so he kidnapped and imprisoned nine of them under his castle to build a giant machine to try to propel himself to godhood. (He also delved obsessively into the lore of Tira Miron, who he believes became a goddess by her merging with the Silver Flame.) Some of these beings were high level adventurers. Some of them were people with celestial or fiendish bloodlines. One of them, Zuoken, was a monk from a Silver Flame order. (And a very high level monk). And one of them was a major Rakshasa from the Demon Wastes, Iuz, who claimed to be the son of a major fiend imprisoned in Khyber below the wastes. (And of the infamous Iggwilv, sorceress, planar traveller, and ally/servant/? of the Lords of Dust). Zagyg's experiment did something...it's not clear if he really became divine or if he was banished to another plane or if he just died. However, some of his apprentices started a minor cult which worships him and it gets its power from SOMETHING. Iuz was the only known survivor of the experiment, escaping back to the Demon Wastes and plotting his revenge. In the adventure, Iuz would be using one of the warlords of Droaam as a pawn to infiltrate the castle for him from below. Most events can then go along as planned. Replace Mordenkainen with a draconic agent of the Chamber in human form; he wants to manuever the PCs into carrying out some piece of the Prophecy he thinks he has figured out. You might consider turning the thieves' guild into perhaps an enclave of one of the two Dragonmarked spy houses; they want deniable agents to carry out the guild's plan in the adventure. |

| AntiSean09-26-07, 01:15 PM | I would place it in Kharaka. :| |

The plot you are suggesting is very good! yeah. that's real good. i, too, have expedition to ruins and wondered the same thing. course, i'm trying to fit everything into sharn (see my separate thread). but if the PC eventually do want to explore outside the city (or get kicked out), i may have them wander to Greyhaw-as-Xandrar.... |
