| Pitiless_Interfector06-12-07, 10:39 PM | While the Spell Compendium did a good job of filing off the serial numbers, the PH still includes such spells as Tenser's transformation, Mordenkainen's disjunction, and Evard's black tentacles. Who were these people? This question has an answer in Greyhawk, but not in Eberron. So, what do we do? Were they professors at Arcanix? Members of the Twelve? Dragonmark heirs? The possibilities are endless, and I'd like consensus. If Keith has already answered this question, I apologize in advance, and swear to inflict just punishment upon myself: :banghead: |

| gensuke62606-16-07, 08:53 PM | It was the world's first Recaster! All of them! Mordenkeinen, Bigby, Tenser, they were all really a changeling named...Tim |
| ArcTan06-16-07, 08:55 PM | The cutest reference that was cut from Planescape: Torment was the implication that the Nameless One had once been Bigby. |
| Splendide06-17-07, 08:43 AM | No official answer, but in my game... * Melf Menecci was a famous gnome crossbowman several hundred years ago, who sold naming rights to a wizard trying to promote his new Acid Arrow spell. * Thaddeus J. Bigby was a manservant of Lord Boroman ir'Dayne, who died in the act of retrieving some scrolls during an expedition to Xen'drik. Upon ir'Dayne's return to Sharn, he donated the scrolls to The Twelve on the proviso that his loyal friend's name be associated with the spells on them in perpetuity. * Mordenkainen is a Valenar ancestor, noted for being a fierce warmage, but also for loving the comforts of life. * Egget Tenser was a prolific spell-designer that helped to build Arcanix, and was specifically in charge of engineering the large scale elevation required. |
| Alarich06-25-07, 12:58 PM | Weeell... I've made them professors at arcanix, with the presence of some "vip" like Norzul... Do you know Norzul? The wizard that has created the "Marvellous Pigments"... Well, my party found a necromancer ( his name isn't important ) that gave them, as reward for a quest, gold piece and these pigments... Necromancer: "Here you go: 1000 gp and Norzul's marvellous pigments. And an advice: should you go in the trasmutation tower, don't tell anyone that you have these pigments!" Party: "Why?" Necromancer: "Because in that tower there is Norzul..." Don't mention of a Grey Jester ( heroes of horror ) with his mace crafted by Tasha... :) |

| Mathus07-09-07, 01:56 PM | I hate putting words into someone else's mouth but I believe Keith Baker would do as the others in earlier posts would have done. He would just have someone in Eberron with the name Tenser or Bigby and so on. And my reasoning for this is look at his conversion notes for the Age of Worms. He takes Kyuss and adapts him into a Rashark, and when the players go into the Temple of Vecna Keith says that Vecna was the "first lich" ever created to make him one of the most powerful liches ever. He is not a god but has power that may equal the Lords of Dust. So you don't need to strip the names of the old spells, just allow that named famous person into your realm history. |
