I know, there isn't supposed to be any...

Anyway,

1) what's with the width of the Hydra "River". It looks likes its 40 miles wide. Is that because WOTC made eberron's scale too large?

2) Where is the Rachi River on the map. Is it that *very* thin blue line in the SoX book? The Rachi also isn't discussed in SoX, but is in Grasp of the Emerald Claw.

That seems to be the main river out of Stromreach, but where it goes seems ill-defined. Should I just not worry about any consistency and attribute anythign to the travelers curse?

3) I like this line in Grasp of the Emeral ClawThe marlow is an elemental-powered riverboat, one of the only such ships in use in Stormreachis it the only one, or not? ;)

I was hoping there would be more elemental riverboats, as they are quite suitable to providing quick getways from exploding giant sites, without relying on airskiffs all the time...

Anyway, interested in your thoughts.

From my perspective, which is surely not officially ordained…

The Hydra River looks like it starts out as a bay or inlet which goes fairly far inland. As for it being 40 miles wide (even far upriver) I would say that it is only a result of the mapping program used to allow it to be easily visible.

From a geographical perspective linear features such as roads and rivers are designated with lines and their actual width is far less than what is visible on the map, the line being wide enough to be visible at whatever scale you are using.

Rachi River… I would just use the info from GofEC, make it go where you want/need it to go and just ignore any discrepancies with the books. The fact that many of the books do not seem to maintain a consistent geography and background means, to me, that I can just ignore anything I don’t want to use or that interferes with my view of the place.

Elemental Powered Riverboats: from the quote it seems clear that there should only be a few. If I had to argue for such a point I would say that House Lyrandar and the shipbuilders of Zilargo have been focused on building airships and elemental galleons (for the war effort) and have just not built very many riverboats. Also, unless you have a shipyard in Stormreach capable of producing ships with bound elementals riverboats would have to be imported from Khorvaire, most likely at great expense.

As a debate point to this, clearly elemental riverboats would be of great utility in Xen’drik, not to mention elsewhere, and so increasing numbers of them should be on the order books if not in actual operation.
