| Germund06-14-07, 11:44 AM | Does anyone have any ideas where Yuan-Ti might fit in the Eberron world? I am thinking Q'Barra might be a possibility, but I'm not quite sure if that would be the best fit. Thanks |
| The_wizard_Tim06-14-07, 11:46 AM | there is a city of them that worship the silver flame some where but I dont have my books on me to find it. |
| Syltorian06-14-07, 12:19 PM | They are originally from Sarlona, then left in the face of the Inspired conquest of that continent. They fled to Argonessen first, then fled from there to Xen'drik, where most of them live now. Apparently, they were not really evil before they got to Xen'drik, though. A variant of Yuan Ti, the Shulakassar (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20040920a), live in Krezent (Talenta Planes), and are the ones that venerate the Silver Flame. You'll find information on the Yuan-Ti in Secrets of Sarlona and Secrets of Xen'drik; there is also a site (no actual location given) in the Silver Flame section of Faiths of Eberron, which describes a temple to the couatl taken over by yuan-ti and an anathema. |
| Cifer06-14-07, 01:01 PM | To my knowledge, there are two conflicting versions of them by now - the standard bad guys mentioned in Faiths of Eberron and the Silver Flame believers from somewhere else though I can't recall what source it was... |
| Hanuman4706-14-07, 03:23 PM | I wouldn't call them conflicting - just different cultures, just as not all human nations are identical. The Shulassakar were first discussed in the Dragonshard article Styltorian links to above. |
| Lady_of_Silence06-15-07, 04:57 PM | If I recall correctly, there are two different kinds of Yuan-ti, a larger group from Sarlona that fled to Xen'drik (or perhaps stayed in Sarlona), I would probably recommend the psionic variant in the Expanded Psionics Handbook for them, and a smaller group of Yuan-ti that are related to the Coutl (I think) and have wings. The second group sounds a little far fetched, but I don't think I'd post it if it wasn't true, unless it's from one of my many stories based in Eberron. I know I made a stat-block for the winged version because there either wasn't one published (that I knew about) or I didn't like it. That was quite along time ago though. ~Kristen |
