Pressence of Command clarification [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-10-07, 10:34 AM As Alexia d'Tharashk is a natural born leader, I was thrilled when I got the Pressence of Command cards in the last mailing. However, I ran into some confusion when I finally got to use them.

My interpretation is that I could use the card at any point during the round to assist another player, provided:
a. I haven't used another action point in this round,
b. I declare the use of the card before the player makes his roll, and
c. I can't use another action point until the initiative comes back to me

However, my DM felt that I needed to declare I was using my card on my turn, as I was "ordering" the player I was assisting, and he felt it was unfair that I could use a Presence of Command on the player immediately before me in the initiative, and then use another on my turn almost immediately. I didn't see this as a problem as I would still only be using 1 action point a round, but I admit his take on the use of the card has merit. I therefore bring it to you, great factionmaster, to give a definitive ruling on how this card is to be used.

07-10-07, 12:57 PM I will make a note of this for the next rules update. I believe the intent was for it to be an immediate action so that it did not have to be your turn, but I will need to double check.

This was, indeed, the intent. I neglected to use the term, "Immediate Action," which was an oversight on my part.

07-12-07, 08:51 PM The card gave me the impression that it was something you used on your turn to help someone else when their action came up -mostly the difference makes no difference. [I'm not the Gm in question]

I'll go with the immediate ruling now though.
