So I was away a little while and things have changed! Where is Sgt. Tragar, and who is this Krenshar guy? I missed the mod where this guy was introduced it seems.

Can someone give me a physical description of this npc? BWC-6 sort of takes for granted that you know what he looks like

Thanks!

Look up Krenshar in the MM :) ...not sure if he actually is one off the top of my head.

I think Tragar may have died in Trouble with Pirates.. but I'm not sure why that would matter much.

Butterface, long time no see!

BTW, I contacted Dragon*Con earlier this week and they aren't running Xen'drik Expeditions there. :-( But if you guys will all be there again, I'd love to meet up.

You will notice, of course, that some BWC mods lately are not written by me. Skyne Tragar is mine, all MINE! Actually, we're saving her for some "big finale" events. Don't worry, she'll be back--she just got promoted. Look for more info in the upcoming campaign summary.

I cetainly noticed. While the guys who wrote 5 and 6 did a good job, it just didn't have the same flavor as 3 or 4. Come back and write more!

Lilinthra - good to see you too. :)

Sadly, I won't be attending dragoncon this year, but some of my friends will be going (the marshal and the wizard if you remember them).

And yes, mods 5 and 6 seemed like fillers to be honest, although it's hard to follow "Trouble with Pirates."

Our gaming group had a problem where we were playing all four factions, got burned out on RPGA, and quit it for about 2 months. Now, we're getting back into it with BWC only I think. (Which makes me sad, I really loved the other three factions as well).

So no one has a physical description of Sgt. "Krenshar" Cren? I hate not even knowing what race the guy is. I'm running 6 this saturday for my group (just for fun, the reporting date is past), and I'd like to have a face with the name!

He was introduced in BWC-6. He's a gnoll in my campaign (because they kept talking about the smell of gnolls when they were introducing him.) I actually put him in my DM's Mark 4 at one point.

If you take a look at the adventure questions, there is a question about how the PC's did in the cavern at the end. A possible answer was:

D. The PCs made the old Dwarf proud, showing perfect tactical skill and coordination, handily preventing the Cabal
attack.

So I would guess dwarf refers back to "Krenshar". On the same topic he seems to be able to handle himself quite well for only a sergeant. He cleared the caves front end all alone, measuring the apparent strength of Cabal in the city, this is quite an accomplishment.

Aye, I thought about that - I'm pretty sure that line refers to Field Marshal Mackinnon Maceck though, leader of BWC. I also think I remeber General Ogdin referring to Maceck as "the old dwarf," or something like that.

Any chance Chris Groves or Kevin Tatroe could give us a description of Krenshar Cren?

I assumed he was a Gnoll and ran him as such, given his nickname of Krenshar. I mean, only gnoll would come close to looking like a Krenshar, right?

I really hope he is a gnoll, otherwise that would be one ugly looking dwarf :D

Sgt. Kren is, in fact, human, though he towers over even the most sturdy of gnolls, both in height and in sheer bulk. Though not attractive, his nick-name comes from his presense -- he's a frighteningly commanding individual who can cow anyone he stands against, often without speaking a single word.

The left half of his face is scarred from a fireball mishap (leading to a general mistrust of Arclight and its missions), but this happened well after he earned his nick-name.

Correct, "the old dwarf" is Field Marshal Mackinnon Maceck. At this point in the hires' careers, the are starting to get on Mace's radar...

Thanks for the description Kevin! I ran No One Left Behind today, and while we enjoyed it, I was greatly saddened. You know the big, dramatic scene at the end where the PC's have to hold off waves of mobs for 10 rounds?

I had one arcane caster in the group cast web. Multiple times. And none of the bad guys had dispel magic, or any fire spells. Hell, it took 10 rounds for the waves of baddies to even get to the PCs. Talk about anti-climatic! What was particularly frustrating was seeing the big, scary, zombie white dragon fly forward, try to rip through the web, and then roll a 2 on his reflex save and get stuck in the web.

:weep:

I'm surprised none of the Cabalists set the Bloodhulks on fire via the fire trap and sent them through the web spells... :)

Krenshar's unwavering determination and luck are legendary, as is his unwillingness to be promoted. He likes to be in the thick of things, and nowhere else.

There were several burning mooks once they actually reached that point! MULTIPLE castings of web throughout this combat. Scrolls of it, and 2 character s with UMD as well as the arcane caster that made the scrolls.

Annoyance!

The zombie white had burrow. It could have gone under the webs and popped out right behind the PC's, actually giving them a fight.

True about the zombie and burrow. although I threw 2.5 times the encounter at my PC's I only managed to down one in the eleventh round due to a lucky crossbow crit.

Not a real fighting retreat but the players loved it anyway. Compliments on the mod.

Ok.. so why doesn't it just bypass the PCs completely and go after the guys they are trying to protect?

It is notoriously hard to understand the motives and decision making of the zombie white dragon. Undoubtedly made more difficult by the fact it is mindless. (And just folows the orders of its creator)

Enlarge person, reach weapon, two healers, good buffers and a marshal with the Will saving throw aura. The set-up was perfect for our group. Combine it with the fact the front-line fighters all had ACs in the mid and high twenties and it become rather easy... It would have gone differently if the front fighter had botched those Will saving throws against the hold person spells. The reason the fighter even dropped was because we were at that point retreating, having done the 10 rounds and the clerics running off a little bit too quickly compared to that lucky critical ;)
