Are there any rules items or campaign cards that grant access to the Hexblade class?

Thanks!

Can't you just unlock it for 3 expansion slots?

Or.. wait.

Can you?

I didn't realize I could do that. Can I?

Some Smart Feller will undoubtedly drop by in a second and tell us for sure either way.

Here's why I think it's unlockable for three expansion slots:

According to the campaign, it isn't on the restricted list. Which means it has to be Locked. Locked items can be unlocked, by expansion slots. Base classes cost 3 slots.

...However, this class curiously does not appear on the Table CS-5 (hit points table in the campaign standard which even lists classes like Factotum and Spellthief). So I am afraid to just jump right up and say "hell yeah, ya can!"

(psst, but I still think you can!)

That'd be great if I can, but where did you get the 3 slots number?

It's in the expansion slot table in the campaign standards v2.0. Base classes cost 3 expansion slots to unlock. You can unlock a base class as your 1st-level class; it just takes up your first three expansion slots, meaning you can't take any other wackiness until at least 4th level.

By the level kick, as of right now, you would start out at 4th level. So that's your base class plus one more expansion slot!

Awesome. Awesome to the max.

What I meant was, is that 1 slot per level, or is it 3 slots for the entire 20 level spread?

3 slots for the entire class and whatever comes with it. And I believe in the case of the Hexblade, you unlock the Hexblade spell list automatically too when you unlock the class

Yes, you unlock the spell list. That means you can cast Hexblade spells that are already unlimited, plus ones that are printed in the same book as the Hexblade that are on the Hexblade list. If you wanted to take Hexblade spells printed in another secondary source, you would have to unlock them one at a time.

I hope that helps.

A few more questions.

At 1st level I can place Hexblade on my expansion list and it costs 3 slots to do so.

1a) May I take Hexblade levels immediately, or must I wait until 4th level because I wouldn't have actually spent 3 slots until 3rd.

1b) If 1a is yes, may I choose Hexblade as one of my Favored Classes?

1c) Also if 1a is yes, could I then spend an additional 3 slots at 4th to gain another base class and immediately take levels in it?

Thanks. I hope these questions make sense.
