| Blaznak07-18-06, 08:34 AM | Greets everyone! I've been working on Drow for a while and decided to post what I think are all various things Drow get in character creation. Feel free to find a flaw, etc. I did this because there is not a single source for this. This list is currently off of both the PHB and MM. I have SCOURED the Eberron books and find no new rules for drow. Requirements: Child of Vulkoor card (uses 3 Action Point slots) Drow Elves • +2 Dexterity, -2 Constitution, +2 Intelligence, +2 Charisma • Medium size. • Elven base speed is 30 feet. • Immunity to magic sleep spells and effects. • Spell resistance 11 + class level. • +2 racial saving throw bonus against Enchantment spells or effects. • +2 racial bonus to Will saves against spells and spell-like abilities. • Spell-Like Abilities: 1/day-dancing lights, darkness, and faerie fire. These abilities are as the spells cast by a sorcerer of the drow’s character level. • Darkvision 120 feet. • Light Blindness (Ex): Abrupt exposure to bright light (such as sunlight or a daylight spell) blinds drow for 1 round. In addition, they suffer a -1 circumstance penalty to all attack rolls, saves, and checks while operating in bright light. • Proficient with hand crossbow, rapier and short sword. • +2 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks. An elf who merely passes within 5 feet of a secret or concealed door is entitled to a Search check to notice it as if she were actively looking for the door. • Automatic Languages: Common, Elven and Undercommon*. • Bonus Languages: Abyssal, Aquan, Draconic, Drow Sign Language, Gnome, Goblin and Koatoan. The SRD also adds Gnoll, Orc, and Sylvan. • Favored Class: Cleric (females) and Wizard (males). • Class Adjustment +2. Pick a character class at creation. You do not gain a new level and may not select a new class until you reach character level 3. *I do not believe this is used in Eberron. Greg: Can you confirm whether the "Child" card unlocks the various Drow feats, like Skirmisher? Jeffery A. |
| Skerrit07-18-06, 09:12 AM | Greg: Can you confirm whether the "Child" card unlocks the various Drow feats, like Skirmisher? I can not. All rule questions are supposed to be answered by Tim. I can tell you that from my reading of the card, you still have to use your expansion slots, just like any other PC would. |
| Harliquinn07-18-06, 09:20 AM | The Class Adjustment would be +1 (Using the card). They have lowered it from the standard +2 LA. Unlike the normal rules for level adjustments, a drow gets the standard starting gold for its class. Also, the languages are as follows: Drow in Eberron have Common, Drow, and Undercommon as automatic languages, and Draconic, Drow Sign Language, Elven, Giant, and Goblin as bonus languages. |
| Blaznak07-18-06, 09:44 AM | Also, the languages are as follows: Drow in Eberron have Common, Drow, and Undercommon as automatic languages, and Draconic, Drow Sign Language, Elven, Giant, and Goblin as bonus languages. Excellent stuff. What is the source for this as I did not find it in the books (I believe you, I just could not find it). Thanks! Jeffery A. |
| Harliquinn07-18-06, 09:55 AM | It's on the Child of Vulkoor card :) |
| Blaznak07-18-06, 01:31 PM | Ah... the big letters in front of me... Sheesh! Thanks for the heads up! Jeffery A. |
| Fleetfang07-18-06, 03:39 PM | Please correct this if it's wrong, but don't Eberron Drow have different weapon proficeincies than in standard D&D? |
| Harliquinn07-18-06, 04:30 PM | Nothing on the card specifies that and since it uses the MM version of Drow, I think they are the same. |
| Fleetfang07-18-06, 05:23 PM | Child of Vulkoor Set Promo: Creation “Make no mistake, if you fall behind I’ll leave you to die.” - Vezzurt, drow adventurer A true testament to the valor of the elven race, the legacy of Xen’drik is yours if you can take it. Benefit: This card unlocks the drow and half-drow races. Half-drows are identical to half-elves in the Player’s Handbook, except for the following: They have dusky gray skin and white hair; their drow heritage makes them susceptible to attacks and abilities that affect drow, and grants the ability to take feats, prestige classes, and use magic items only usable by drow; Common and Drow are half-drows’ automatic languages, and they may take any language as a bonus language (except secret languages, such as Druidic), including Drow Sign Language. Drow are detailed in the Monster Manual. Drows have a +1 level adjustment and are considered 2nd-level characters at the campaign start. At first level, choose a class normally. A drow character can’t take a second class level until reaching 3rd level, and the race always takes up a level when the character progresses. Unlike the normal rules for level adjustments, your character gets the standard starting gold for its class. Drow in Eberron have Common, Drow, and Undercommon as automatic languages, and Draconic, Drow Sign Language, Elven, Giant, and Goblin as bonus languages. Drow and half-drow in Eberron are different than their core D&D kin. Explore Eberron drow options in the Races of Eberron and Secrets of Xen’drik supplements. What about that part at the bottom where it says that they're different than their core D&D kin. I don't own any Eberron supp books, but in flipping through RoE and SoX, I thought I read something about different weapon proficiencies... I could be wrong, of course. Maybe they're just referring to the cultural differences. |
| Sieylianna07-18-06, 05:31 PM | I can not. All rule questions are supposed to be answered by Tim. I can tell you that from my reading of the card, you still have to use your expansion slots, just like any other PC would. I had the same question on Daylight Adaptation. BTW, my MSR preview hasn't shown up in my player history. Ed |
| Kelvane07-19-06, 12:46 AM | What about the Poison(EX) ability, any ideas on cost of drow sleep poison. |
| Harliquinn07-19-06, 08:16 AM | The Poison is an ability of an NPC Drow, not a PC drow. PC drow information is listed under the Traits section. |
| Sianger08-04-06, 03:56 AM | And Eberron drow most certainly have different weapon proficiencies, I just can't for the life of me remember what they are. Will check as soon as I get back to my books. |
| Kelvane08-04-06, 01:28 PM | The Child of Vulkoor card states drow are detailed in the MM, so there weapon prof. stay the same. But if you have Xen'drix as you region you can treat the Xen'drix boomerang as a martial weapon. |
| AbyssKnight08-08-06, 03:23 PM | "The Sulatar drow are proficient with the short sword and hand crossbow. They treat the two-bladed sword as a martial weapon instead of an exotic weapon. These replace the standard drow weapon proficiencies." Secrets of Xen'drik pg.52 Secrets of Xen'drik describes the different tribes of drow. Since the campaign card does say "Explore Eberron drow options in the Races of Eberron and Secrets of Xen'drik supplements," it might be an option to use the above weapon profs instead of the MM weapon profs for a Sulatar drow character. Secrets of Xen'drik also says that Dragon #330 gives the abilites of the Umbragen drow, so you might be able to use those abilities as well. So, can we officially make drow PCs from the Sulatar or Umbragen tribes, or must all PC drow come from the Vulkoor worshiping savage tribes? |
