Even though I've seen the content in the Forum Teasers from Skerrit, the relationship dynamics in the context of game mechanics IMO, gave some teeth to Obscura membership.

Since I'm playing a cleric of a particularly malevolent and nebulous order, the obscura guidelines provide me with some material with which to build some good RP situations. I can't wait to see what my Obscura's directives are for Well of Woes. Whatever they may be, I'm sure there's fun in store for the party...

Me too! Although since I'm going to be DM-ing the modules, I'm going to find it fun watching my Cabal players trying to complete sub-missions and trying to not make it sound like he has one...

Rest of group: "Let's kill him!"
Cabal guy: "No... no... he's..errr... cute, too cute to kill, can I keep him as a pet? I...errr.... want a servant to help my wife with housework.... Please??"

I noticed that some of the Obscura changed significantly from the "preview" version. The Instruments of Change is nothing like the original version. I'm not sure whether I can reconcile that with the PC.

BTW, how do those of us who did the preview adventures get our adventure logs completed?

I really like the sub-factions. It was fun seeing the notes flying and the side-bars with the GMs at GenCon! I completed two of my objectives in the games where the GMs actually used them...

You mean there were games where the GMs didn't use them? Sacrilege!!! The Obscura make being CoS so much fun! Plotting, scheming, and excellent demonstrations of what limited, restrained PvP should be like all round!

I never knew giving a group some conflicting objectives could be that much fun...

Yes, that is what I mean. He told me that since they were not available before GenCon that he was not using them. The first two session did so, I still had fun with it! :D

My GM didn't even mention that there WERE different objectives for the diffent obscura. My character is SO obviously of one particular one that he shouldn't even have had to ask, but we all got the exact same "default" goals (which were NOT the ones I would have gotten). I found out later from another player that their group had at least 3 different goals, some of which conflicted. I was kind of bummed out at missing it and will be sure to ASK next time if we have sub-faction goals.

I handed my obscura certificate to the GM before the session began...

I was the only cabal member that had one at my table.
