I am curious to know how the CoS experience went at Origins? Did you enjoy the mod (which I admit was a bit combat heavy, but the first mod was supposed to be adventure packed)? Were you able to finish it in time? What would you like to see in the future?

We had a blast playing it. First we insisted the GM note on the one players record an alignment in fraction because he was doing good things. Then we referred to the Chaotic Good warmage as the paladin because of his good behavior.

Nothing wrong with combat heavy. The only thing I'm confused with is the fact that the introductory mods in MoH and with XE (not just Cabal either) didn't really introduce the PC's to the factions, or the setting. Both assumed that the PC's were already familiar with what was going on. Those that didn't read the teasers online might've been a bit in the dark as to what was going on behind the scenes. Still, I enjoyed the mods and look forward to the rest of the campaign.

The guy was actually playing a Warlock, but it was still hilarious. Two human warlocks and 3 Daelkyr Halfbloods made for good fun!

Well, that's true. I just wanted to point out that some mods will be combat heavy, and some will be combat light. Although I don't believe you have more than one fight a day in the first mod, expect to see a few more that break the three combats in a day mold that was more common in LGR or MOH, or even have very little combat at all. In other mods though, expect series combat. I expect we will see great variety in the mods offered by XE.

The only thing I'm confused with is the fact that the introductory mods in MoH and with XE (not just Cabal either) didn't really introduce the PC's to the factions, or the setting. Both assumed that the PC's were already familiar with what was going on.

The reasons for this are several. First, when we originally started writting the first faction mods, even we didn't know much about our own factions or the campaign plot. So while we were waiting on that information we decided to offer what is a more generic introduction to the campaign with some faction flavor, rather than heavy details into our factions. I figured people would be so busy trying to figure out their new drow beguilier (or half-daelkyr duskblade warlock from Gehenna) that they would have trouble assimilating even more details.

Second, we didn't really know what the schedule for information release was going to be, but I had hoped that we would have all the information you needed up on the website by Origins, but it turns out that didn't happen. That was probably just wishful thinking on my part, as no particular promises were made that it would be up by then.

Third, Origins was more a glimpse than the actual campaign start. That really takes place this Gen Con. So while you might have seen part of the package, you didn't get it all. By Gen Con, everything will be in place. I hope that by Gen Con, you will have seen lots of information both on this forum and on the XE website and you will be able to take that all with you into your Cabal of Shadows Gen Con experience.

Glad to hear then it seems fairly good. Cant wait to play em at Phoenix Con at the end of July. Putting a few finale touches on my Tiefling Rogue (was tuff either a Rogue or Beguiler.)

Though I specifically played the Cabal of Shadows mod at MSR in Milwaukee, I did enjoy it. it did seem a little combat heavy, but the intrigue of the various Obscura balanced that out.

My main fear is hoping that I get the right digital certs for my game from MSR for my Child of Winter Druid :)

Excellent mod, Greg and I also enjoy how you are able to get us in the feel of playing evil characters while still trying to keep the PvP aspect reigned in to make sure no one is ruining the fun at a table.

This is the one thing I'm most curious about from those who played at Origins. Was the evil nature of your tables a distraction or a neat twist? At our table at MSR, we still played as a "team" so the PvP conflicts were minimal but there was a unique flavor generated by the ability to be able to do evil things.

I, for one, enjoyed it despite playing a rather vanilla character (a human druid, but i'm at least a Child of Winter :)

I feel that there should be a rule that simply states that players cannot attack each other (maybe there is one), but that you can be as evil as you want to NPC's. Most are mature enough that it's never an issue, but there's always one bad apple. The Cabal also needs to be very clear that killing one another is a big no no (without direct permission) and those who do will be eliminated. If I'm wrong about the Cabal caring about personal squabbles, let me know. Our table also worked as a team, though the crazed Daelkyr abused whatever NPC's they could.

There is. Please see my "PvP" post on the "First Post" thread of this group for details.

In most parts of the world, that's the law. Players attacking each other is called assault, or various other terms that mean the same thing.
PCs attacking each other - now that's a different thing ;)
