| tbug08-16-06, 02:29 PM | I was reading the DM Mark (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebxe/dmmark) page, and it says that there will be a new DM Mark every month. The Covenant of Light list of adventures (https://events.wizards.com/RPGAWeb/external/scenarios.asp) just lists one available at the end of this month and one available at the beginning of November. I'd like to run this stuff as a home game, which would work if there were monthly DM Marks. Is this likely to happen, or is that something that probably won't come to pass in 2006? |

It seems I'm following you around the boards today. ;) The DMs mark information is copied from the Mark of Heroes info put out a while back. There have never been consistent DMs marks offered for all months. It looks like in Xen'drik, we have 1 DMs Mark per faction adventure. I'm not sure if it was intended this way, that's just the way it came out. The good news is, you don't have to run just one faction, so you can stagger months and still keep playing. (Can you tell I love this campaign yet?) :D Dan Erbacher |

We're working on a new automated system that allows DM's to select their story objects from a huge list related to prestige class unlocks (contact w/fey, contact w/outsiders, etc.) and personal character options(a drow wife from the vulkoor tribe, or a land grant in stormreach, etc.). Once we've gotten that finished, it should be smooth sailing. Until then, we're going to give it our all to make sure that 1 faction's DM's Mark is available per month. Once the new system is in place, it could go as frequent as 2 for each faction, per month. We'll see how things work out. |

The good news is, you don't have to run just one faction, so you can stagger months and still keep playing. I'd rather keep the continuity going on a game-to-game basis. Regardless, thanks for your help! |

| kiddoc08-16-06, 07:50 PM | That's excellent news! Thank-you! Does it matter if I play the faction adventure before or after the DM's Mark? Individual factionmasters may have their own preferences about that. For BWC--I can tell you that most of the DM's marks will take place after the faction adventures or inconspicuously between them. |
| tbug08-17-06, 12:27 PM | It sounds like there's no posted rule, anyway. I'll order both and figure out a way to harmonize them, regardless of which order we play them. Thanks! |
| Mherduwynn08-17-06, 02:18 PM | One thing I can note for you on the DM's Marks is that in some way they will be identified as where they belong in "the story". You should never have to fly blind with XenEx; that's one of our overriding goals with the campaign. If there's anything else we can help you with, let us know. -August |
| tbug08-17-06, 08:49 PM | If I understand you correctly, you're saying that if I order both a scenario and a DM's Mark then once I have them I'll be able to read them and tell which should be run first. Is that correct? May I impose further and ask whether I should run the first DM's Mark first or the first factional scenario? Thanks so much for helping with this. |
| Mherduwynn08-17-06, 09:10 PM | Correct. And I would recommend the first CoL Faction module, as it introduces a number of Covenant concepts... -A |
| tbug08-17-06, 09:27 PM | Once again, sir, you have my thanks. |
| Skerrit08-17-06, 10:50 PM | I think in general the DM's Marks are meant either to be run after the factional adventure, or it doesn't matter at all. I don't know of any DM's Mark adventures that meant to be run before the faction adventure of the same number. |
| Marcia_S08-18-06, 01:43 PM | The faction adventures actually give ideas for follow-up DM's Marks. I found the ideas to be really helpful, so that's what I'm planning on doing. E.g. in my first DM's Mark, you get to chase down the BGs who gakked a certain NPC. It's not directly tied in to anything, but may give the PCs some sense of "closure" that justice has been served. My second DM's Mark was based on the premise of Well of Woe (adventuring in the wilderness), but could be played in any order, although would make more sense between CoL 2 and Well of Woe. Marcia |
