| Senhouse08-14-06, 03:31 PM | On Thursday, I played Well of Woe with my CoL human paladin, Stannis Strongheart, who worships the Silver Flame. I was one of the lucky ones who didn't have a group the devolved into PvP at the end, because we had 5 CoL and 1 Blackwheel member. It was a blast, although around 4 pm I looked around the table and 3 of the guys who had come together were looking kinda sleepy. After we took a break we got back on track. The mod had some great memorable moments, good combats, and a decent puzzle. On Friday I played the two Covenant mods. The first one started off really well and got me into the story pretty quickly. However, there was a pretty big logical flaw, as it asked the group to let an NPC leave their presence after he had ask for them to guard him. No reasonable party would let that happen - since it looks either really stupid or really suspicious or both. The DM stopped the game to look for the mod's author, but came back and we worked around it and let the module continue. Later on, after a big fight, we were out of spells, and down some hp, so decided to take a rest - we are 25 point buy level 1 characters after all! However, this basically ended the module because our characters "lost the trail". This all happened two hours after we had started playing - AFTER we had to wait for an hour for two guys to make new characters instead of choosing fastplays. I don't think there should be any way for a module to just end 2 hours in if all of the characters are still alive. I can't wait to see/hear about all of the stuff in the mod that we didn't get to. I wish the DM had imparted more of a sense of urgency, he didn't make that obvious at all. Anyway, this was somewhat made up for by getting August as my DM for Crisis of Faith, and he did a great job. The story was good, the investigation was good, his NPCs were alive and interesting, and the final battle was very memorable. Chris |
