| Redneck4Hire07-04-07, 09:36 AM | There is a new group starting up later this month and I have a couple of questions about character creation, especailly pertaining to Prestege Classes. We are starting at lvl 4 and the PrC that I'd like to take is not listed as restricted; however, it needs a story object. I have not read through the adventures so I don't know if the story object exists, but an overview of one of the adventures gave me the impression that there was one. Question 1: Since we are starting the new campaign at the lvl 4 boost, can we use the story objects from previous adventures without going back and playing the adventures ourselves? Question 2: I actually meet the prerequisites of this PrC at lvl 3. Since I have the expansion slots for lvls 1-4, can I burn 3 of them to take the PrC at lvl 4 and start the campaign as a lvl 3 base class/lvl 1 PrC? Or do I have to wait till lvl 5 to take the PrC if the story object requirement is ful-filled? |

Unlocking a PrC requires 3 slots, and you can even use your 4th, 5th, and 6th-level slots to do so, while being eligible to take the PrC at 4th level. If the PrC has a special requirement, however, you need a story object that grants you that requirement, otherwise no amount of unlocking will allow you to take the class. If you don't qualify for the PrC yet, you can always retool your class levels at the next level bump (which should be sometime next month), if you then qualify. For example, let's say you're playing a 3rd-level cleric. You'd like to take the 1st church inquisitor level at 4th-level, but you don't qualify now. So you instead play a 4th-level cleric. Before you qualify for the PrC, you gain your fifth level, and decide to make your character a 5th-level cleric. After that, you qualify for church inquisitor. At the next level bump, you can change any of your class levels (except your first) to your liking, so at the level 7 bump, your character becomes a 3rd-level cleric / 4th-level church inquisitor, for example. |

I think it works the same with story objects/journal notes* *you can also meet requierements in a adventure and this is put on your journal, this mostly happens in Dm's marks. |
| Marcus Majarra07-17-07, 02:02 AM | During a level kick, you can pretty much retool anything except: 1. Your starting class 2. Your race 3. Your creation card 4. Your unlocks 5. Your original ability scores |
| Timlagor07-17-07, 12:46 PM | 6. Your Character Name |
| lseelba07-18-07, 02:39 AM | 7. Your faction (I'm not being sarcastic...it's actually in the XCS :D ) |
