So what would relations bewteen some Codex serpents and House Tharashk be if

1. the serpents snuck aboard a Tharashk chartered airship heading to Zantashk, and left it in an obvious way (tripping the alarm spells on the feather-fall flotation rings)

2. They killed the Duraak'ash (dragonmarked) sent to bring them in for questioning about the previous incident

3. They beat up the backup bounty hunters sent to find out what happened to the Duraak'ash.

would they bear them unending ill-will, or offer them a job?

(plot elements from my DM's Mark Codex campaign...)

I would vote for unending ill-will. And the PCs would pretty much deserve it, it seems. Codex members needing to resort to killing, or even being able to be followed, didn't think ahead. Wisdom is knowledge. Forethought is safety.

With the next adventure, we will start to delve into CC relations with some of the dragonmarked houses, and there will be more Web articles about the factions. One thing to know right away is that very few people outside of the Crimson Codex know there is a Crimson Codex. At best, intelligence agents of other factions and power groups know who Ohnal Caldyn is, and they know that he has people working for him.

Also, the main brunt of the Codex forces are on Khorvaire. Those who are stationed in Xen'drik are way out on the fringes of power, and mostly on their own. The Codex does have some resources there, but nothing like what they have on Khorvaire.

Thanks.

In their defense, Pfilo was the one who snuck them on board the airship in crates, unconcious, and they didn't have much choice. (I like in media res scenario starts in eberron particulalrly.

And the Duraak'ash probably should have talked to them while fighting explaining himself a bit better.

But after the soulmeld's crit with his lightning gautlets doing 8d6 electrical, he didn't talk much afterwards... (crits are a bear...)

The Codex should be a bit more circumspect. Unfortunately, when you gather info with blue glowing goggles floating over your eyes for a skill bonus, you're kinda easy to do "urban tracking" on...

Maybe they can have an opportunity to rescue someone from the House and at least get back to neutral territory.

Very true. As fun as starting in the middle of an adventure can be, it does cut out any chance the PCs have to control their circumstances.

True. Self-defense is sometimes necessary.

Heh. Yep. Using incarnum can be a bit conspicuous.
