Story Objects - the problem is... [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-31-06, 11:23 PM Guys, I have noticed, by GMastering MoHeroes, that sometimes I can't assigned two story objects for my players when I am going to report (i.e. I fill in the CERT 1 and the database says I cannot fill in CERT 2). I've also noticed that, during the first Crimson Codex adventure, in the end, the players may receive 2 story objects... Do you think we will have the same problem to report? Maybe is a glitch in the database...

08-01-06, 07:42 AM There is a problem with inputting story objects for the Crimson Codex mod. I have made the people at the RPGA and Wizards aware of this. That is all I can do and say right now.

08-15-06, 02:57 PM Well it's after Gen Con (which was great by the way) and I still can't enter the certs. Should I enter the results without the certs, or de-activate and request it again. I have to set up some other events for my players tonight.

A little early to be looking, I would guess. The guys that would be fixing the interface were probably also at Gen Con, afterall...

strange. I entered certs for my cabal of shadows game from last tuesday today, and they went in fine. I'm hoping this all gets fixed soon. This is too great a campaign to let these things hold it back.

Agreed, as a matter of fact, our stories are better... My players could fulfill all expectations for adventures 1 without even breaking a sweat, only using god-given brains.

09-03-06, 11:40 AM Just as an update: the story objects still don't seem to be fixed for either CC1: Prophecy's Unwitting Servant or for the DMs Mark. I ran these yesterday, but can't enter the characters certs yet. C'mon, database gnomes, let's get it working!:confused:

09-08-06, 10:37 AM Does HQ say anything back to you? Or are you just sending them info with no feedback. You don't have to tell me WHAT it is that HQ is sayign to you, just that they've said ANYTHING...

In the meantime, and without spoilers, here's what I can convey. In the first Crimson Codex adventure Prophecy's Unwitting Servant, there are three Story Objects. If you are playing or running that adventure, or if you have in the past, here is what I am hoping will happen. The first object will be removed from the database. If you got it (it is the rodent-based one), just make a note on your Adventure Journal. Then everyone will receive the second and third ones.

For the second adventure Forbidden Knowledge, only one person can receive the first story object, everyone should receive the second, and the third will be removed from the database (although the one person who receives the third can note it in their Adventure Journal if applicable).

Understand, this is what I HOPE happens. I have received no news on the database fixes for the story objects.

09-08-06, 05:27 PM Last Saturday I ran a group through both Prophecy's Unwitting Servant and CC DM's Mark 1. At first PUS gave me an error with the story objects. The system is now taking the PUS story objects, but now I am getting an error with the DM's Mark story objects ("Scenario not present for the given certification in the scenariocertification table (if TM=1) for Cert1Entered for Player1").

The problem is with Story Object EXBC03 not EXWW01. If I just put in EXWW01 the system takes it without error.

Of course I might want to change the PUS story objects if it possible to give them all three story objects using the Adventure Journal.

I was wondering if you have heard any more about this issue. I am about ready to do as you suggest with CC1, but I just want to make sure that this is official. It concerns me when you say, "this is what I HOPE happens." Is there a chance that I note the Story Object on the AJ only to find out later it is not official and they do not actually get the first story object?

Also is it ok to just put a note in the AJ that CC DM mark 1 would not take the EXBC03 Story Object and it then be official in the same way as above?

09-18-06, 11:07 AM I only know what people are telling me who try to input the codes. So I am assuming that it is working the way I have said for Prophecy's Unwitting Servant. Just write down the first Story Object in the Adventure Journal, and the database should accept the second and third Story Objects.

For the first CC DM's Mark, it sounds like there are still problems. As far as I am concerned, until the database is working perfectly, anything written in the Adventure Journal and signed by the judge is legal campaign documentation. What the RPGA HQ will say about that is anyone's guess, but it works at my tables.
