| catsclaw02-07-07, 05:31 PM | I noticed these are now available on the website. I'm trying to talk my brother through creating characters for DDXP, but as far as I could tell there's no information on creating a fourth-level character -- just "create a first-level character, report him to the character tracker, and then level him up when the tracker tells you to". How much gold do new characters starting at the level bump get? |
| Skerrit02-07-07, 05:52 PM | There should be an annoucement on the website shortly to coincide with level bump day. |
| Harliquinn02-07-07, 06:13 PM | I know it might be a lot to ask, but is there a list anywhere of what's changed between 1.1 and 2.0? At least from an existing character standpoint? Or is 2.0 mainly just additions to rules and clarifications? Thanks! Harliquinn |
| Skerrit02-07-07, 07:36 PM | 90% or more of it is new additions due to new books or clarifications of questions asked on these lists. We did tweak some of the rules on retooling, online play, artificers, and spellbooks but I guess those are largely just clarifications as well. |
| Hellcast02-07-07, 08:35 PM | I think roles on retooling are a bit awkward. You can't change an expansion slot but you can change all your level but the first?doesn't make sense, you can even change ability scores. To me the only things that could be retooled on lvl bump would be feats, spells, and expansion slots. In my point of view level bump retooling should be an oportunity to change things because there are more items/spells/feats to choose from, wich you could have chosen if they were available at first, not change you whole character. This seems like an excuse to "almost make" a new PC without losing your story objects and EV. |

I agree with Hellcast. If you had to retool all your levels except your first, most of your expansion slot items would also be rendered useless.. eg class specific spells, items and feats. |

If you had to retool all your levels except your first, most of your expansion slot items would also be rendered useless.. eg class specific spells, items and feats. Except that you don't HAVE to retool. You CAN retool. It is awkward only in the sense that not being able to retool expansion slots limits retooling. In other words, it is the way it is because we do want to promote people having some consistency to their characters, but we want to give the option to change drastically if the player wants it bad enough. But in wanting it bad enough, you are going to give up flexibility, precisely because all those expansion slots are lost, unless you keep the character concept consistent enough to make them still useful. To make it completely blunt, we too often see people retooling characters because they find a way to break something. This way people are rewarded for sticking with their character concept, but they can still retool. They just pay a price for doing so. |
