| Greyson06-26-06, 02:57 PM | Hey, all. What is an "Adventure Journal"? This is probably a dumb question, but I'll probably need to know what it is to play in this campaign. The v0.0 Xen'drik Expeditions CS makes reference to it. I imagine it is a print out similar to the online Character Record in the RPGA's Character Tracker database. |
| Frobi-Wan Kenobi06-26-06, 03:21 PM | It seems that the Adventure Journal will be something that follows your character from creation to death/retirement which will contain information that won't be recorded in the RPGA database. Things like secondary favored classes, if you are a member of a Dragonmarked House, etc. |
| MysticRhythms07-04-06, 08:27 AM | I've beenwondering about this myself. It seemed, at first, to be something like a notebook that a player keeps for his character (which come of us do already) but the campaign standards seem to indicate that some official business belongs in there and cannot change. It would be nice to know if there's a specific format that is desired. Hopefully someone more official can shed some light on this. |
| TimRat07-04-06, 11:44 AM | i'm pretty sure the adventure journal will be in the next incarnation of the campaign standards which will be coming out in the coming weeks. |
| wiccadshadow07-28-06, 10:18 PM | The weeks have came and gone. =) No version 1 =( |
| duncansalazar07-30-06, 10:51 PM | i'm pretty sure the adventure journal will be in the next incarnation of the campaign standards which will be coming out in the coming weeks. but any idea how it will be? Some PDF we download from RPGa site or something attached to the adeventures? Because sometimes, the adventures I get son't even have the pictures to show the players. I have been experiencing these problems with the MoH slots... Hope we don't have with Xen'drik. |
| lordtiberiusfoxx08-03-06, 05:37 PM | The 1.0 standards didn't have anything on the adventure journal, nor do I see it in the downloads. Considering that we have to journal everything about our character, it would be logical to assume that it is a "notebook" to record everything in. Clairification on this issue would be a good thing. So what do the Origins people do since they didn't have an adventure journal? Do we record all of our opening stats in the AJ as well? Tiberius Foxx |

Tiberius Foxx So far, all I can recall reading in other posts was that it was just a record of your character, pending the real launch of the Campaign at GenCon Indy. Like any treasure earned in events could be carried over to the next event, since EV wasn't yet being tracked online and such, and it was to be noted in an adventure journal. It'd be cool if it was something a bit more substantial than that. - Andy |
| Aethan08-05-06, 12:31 PM | Hmmm...actually, having gone back and really strongly scoured the Campaign Standards, it seems like the Adventure Journal is more important than that. It would be nice to know...let's see if we can get the Faction Masters' attention with a new thread... |
| smerwin2908-05-06, 01:58 PM | Please understand that having our attention doesn't necessarily mean much. We cannot snap our fingers and make things happen. We all read the boards. We are all aware of the issues being brought up here. |

We are all aware of the issues being brought up here. We understand. We really do. These same kind of things come up in home games and they are a headache for DMs there. Being a DM for several hundred people is a headache that a Heal spell couldn't cure. Please don't let our questions seem like we are trying to nag any factionmaster. We are honestly only trying to get issues clairified for ourselves and other players. This even includes my inane questions, which I know can get frequent as of late. |

It would be nice to know...let's see if we can get the Faction Masters' attention with a new thread... It seems to me that none of the items that would be entered in your Adventure Journal would matter at the start of the campaign. A 1st level character can't use his secondary favored class yet, since he only has one level. I'm glad they got the character-making matters sorted in the new Standards in time for players to get started. I'll need to actually play some before it's a worry what I should be keeping in my Journal. |
| Harliquinn08-07-06, 04:24 PM | LIke an idiot, I have misplaced my 'adventure journal' from Origins, so I no longer know what Story Objects I received, nor remember much of the details about what items I obtained (That would carry over is my understanding). So, though I did 3 of the starter quests, I am lacking until the online database is finished after GenCon. Not a big deal, and I'm kicking myself for misplacing my notes :( Harliquinn |
| MysticRhythms08-07-06, 05:33 PM | Though I'm sure a judge can assist you at GenCon and possibly offer the same help, if nothing else I'd be glad to share the story objects with you - I've downloaded all the modules so far in an attempt to run them locally so I know what all the story objects are and the event based treasure from each module. If no one else offers, I'd be glad to meet you at the Con and go over the list with you for each mod and each character. Email me offlist please. I understand that it might still be poo-pooed by some judges who say that you could have made it up, but if I were judging your table and you had told me of this, I'd be doign the exact same thing. It would be a different story if the Origins story objects had been reported digitally, obviously. But perhaps in walking through the mods you played we can ping your memory to remember which objects you should have. |
| Harliquinn08-08-06, 03:43 PM | I sent you a private message about what I remember :) Any help is appreciated! Thanks, Harli |
