| DBlizzard06-25-06, 06:12 PM | Is this very powerful card actually going to be the convention exclusive? Being able to start your character with 28 pts. instead of 25 pts. is huge. While I think it's neat to reward your convention attendees with cool items, they should be more cool than powerful. |
| PatEllis1506-25-06, 08:09 PM | It is not a card handed out at the show (from what I understand). At GenCon, you will get it if you are able to complete teh Delve, a 20 minute dungeon craw between you and the DM. Live, get the extra 3 points, die, BACK OF THE LINE! Pat E |

And exactly how does this not make it "elitist"? It even more rewards a very few players with a large power advantage. It may not seem that 3 pts. in point buy is a big deal, but I'd take that over any other campaign card out there. In fact over any 3 campaign cards. |

Rumor has it that the "Delve" will be taking place at many different events. Right now the Delve is just the "first" way to win that card, not the "only." Of course, unless you're looking at roleplaying in the RPGA as a direct competition between players at the table (couple hundred games under my belt, never seen that before)--then I don't see how any player has an "advantage" over others. Heck, if I'm at the table, I'd LOVE to see somebody sit down to help out the group with those extra points. But, if the campaign is designed with 25 point characters in mind (and it is), then they should all be starting at the level. Sure 28 is better, but it's better for the entire party, not just that character. In XE, more than ANY other campaign, group dynamics and party cooperation are going to matter--in a huge way. |
| Frobi-Wan Kenobi06-25-06, 10:15 PM | If the card has the 3 action point penalty like the Child of Vulkoor I'm not sure it'll be worth it. Plus, playing the Spellspitter's Abbadon doesn't promise you the card - appearently you collect glyphstones in the game then take as many as you can and "buy" the promo cards from RPGA HQ so it might take a hand full of generics to collect enough glyphstones. And for those interested I'll be happy to kill your characters in this special event from noon to 8 PM Friday at the con - remember that the 7:30 show is completely different from the 5:30 show and be sure to tip your waitress. |

| TimRat06-27-06, 11:18 AM | ya it says in the campaign docs that you will able to get this card at gencon socal and WF 07 as well. maybe even other places so it wont be to difficult. i do know to play teh delve which will be running most of the time at indy that you need 1 generic ticket each time you run it. at least thats the last i heard about it. so it costs ya 3 bucks each time (unless the price of generic changed and i didn't know about it) |
| MattTjarks07-06-06, 10:36 PM | Generics are, and have been for at least a couple years now, $1.50. I usually have a handful of these anyway, just in case, so I guess I'll be getting a few more to try out the Delve. I look forward to dying, so you DMs better be at the top of your game trying to take us down ;) . I can usually count on GenCon judges for that though, so I'm not worried. My question is if we bring our own characters to this event (presumably the ones we would be playing in the campaign), or if we will have one or a selection of pregens that we will play. I'm really looking forward to this event, and look forward to seeing the campaign cards we are playing for. |

The answer to that, to the best of my knowledge, is either. You can bring your own PCs created for one (or more) of the four factions, or you will be able to pick up a pre-gen for the campaign. Also, this delve event does not "count" in terms of PC death. After the 20 minutes, you can get back in line, play again with the same character (even if it just died) or with a different character. | TimRat07-07-06, 12:34 PM | I can say for sure that shawn is correct. you can use either a fastplay or your normal xendrik character (any of them) and if they die its ok no loss. |
| MattTjarks07-07-06, 12:36 PM | Yeah, I figured that death didn't matter in the sense that it was tracked or anything, since it doesn't seem like anything is tracked (other than the glyphstones you get of course). It sounds like the perfect time for some D&D combat fun. |
| Fleetfang07-19-06, 11:31 AM | Two questions: Is the delve a 1-on-1 solo adventure, or is there a whole party involved? If it is a whole party at the table, will the glyphstones be awarded to only the PC that finds them or is it a cooperative thing where everyone gets an equal share in the rewards? |

Right now the Delve is just the "first" way to win that card, not the "only." {Remained Clipped} Ok, seeing as the "delve" is just a "rumored way" to get one of these, what are the means for us to discover how to get one of these? I would love to have an opportunity to try for one - for many of the reasons you listed... Will this just be a spontaneous offering at the "right place right time" in the demos at the dealer's rooms, or at the tables of the faction or "WoW" trilogy mods? I understand nothing is "set in stone" (since it IS just rumors now); but could we at least have a hint as to the method of these being released/available? Zor |
| Herrbard07-29-06, 11:09 PM | The card will be offered as a reward in the twenty minute Xen'drik Delve event at GenCon. It was originally scheduled to also be offered at GenCon SoCal and Winter Fantasy. There is now debate on whether that is in fact going to happen. Other than those events, there has been no other info on obtaining this valuable card. Here is some info for the Xen'drik Delve at GenCon * Xen'drik Expedition Delve* Play for 20 minutes or until dead. If you die, it's not permanent; just get back in line and try again. The adventure is for first level characters. The Delve runs the following hours (non-standard slots times). It may extend slightly at night depending on demand. Thur - Noon - 8 PM Fri - Noon - 8 PM Sat - Noon - 8 PM Sun - 9AM - 1 PM This is a fast paced event and people can play it more then once (and will). Full dwarven forge layouts with mini's and dressings. Cost two generic tickets to play (no pre-sale tickets, just wait in line). There will be five Xen'drik cards available as prizes, including the 28 point buy card and a card that lets you play a half-giant from Expande Psionics Handbook. |
| araelethe08-02-06, 09:36 AM | One of these RPGA cards is for sale on Ebay and has been posted through Yahoo groups mailing lists. The card on Ebay is identified as the 28 point buy character generation card available through the GenCon dungeon delve. How is this card already available? And why are RPGA cards sold in auction? You cannot believe how much Xen'drik cards have been sold for. As one that can only play at GenCon and has been unable to attain RPGA rewards cards, though I very much desire the opportunities unlocked by these cards, I find these sales frustrating and unethical. That said, anyone want to extend a "Child of Vulkoor" card to a lonely gamer? Do dealers at GenCon also "promote" these cards? |
| Harliquinn08-02-06, 10:47 AM | I've personally purchased a few cards on Ebay, and while prices can go high, at least they are available there. I think they are good as a reward for D&D Rewards, but based on the way they are now able to fundamentally change the game (28-point buy), they need to be made available in other ways so that more people can obtain them. |
| Fleetfang08-02-06, 10:57 AM | I don't have a problem with people selling cards on eBay, as I've bought a few myself. What raises my eyebrow is how the guy selling the Adventuring Prodigy card on eBay got it before GenCon. It naturally seems like someone in the RPGA could be abusing his position, perhaps pilfering a handful of cards and subsequently making a tidy profit on them, like $35 a pop. "Wavester" is on the LG forums fairly often. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270014321930&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1 The fact that the he doesn't explain how he got ahold of this card ahead of time makes things more suspect as well. |
| Wavester08-02-06, 03:50 PM | Dude quiet. I plan on taking the money and running off to Mexico with it and drinking Tequilla until most shows on the WB make sense. Don't ruin my dream man. Dave C (ya that Dave C and ya I do get cards and ya I can do whatever the heck I want with them once they are mine just like the rest of ya) |
| Fleetfang08-02-06, 07:26 PM | Wow... That's gotta be a LOT of Tequila... Best o' luck on that! |

Or, well COULD get one, I should say... And Dwarven Forge, eh? They make the coolest stuff. I wish I had the money to buy a whole dungeon's worth of that stuff (of course, then I'd have to make the time to set it all up and what-not pre-game session, but it'd be worth it I think). ^_^ I'll drop by and see if I can't get squeezed in somewhere, even if not for the card (may or may not use that anyway, it's 3 slots I hear - that's steep and eliminates a DragonMark (or other fun carded features - some only available at character creation)), that sounds like a load of fun.
