"Blackout" module? [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-13-07, 11:33 AM There was some talk at the XPerience of special mods being available during the blackout period. Mods that wouldn't (for obvious reasons) grant any gold or XP, but would instead have something "special" to give the players (like a paper cert or something similar).

Is this still in the works for the blackout period, or has that been dropped due to time/workload/other issues?

07-13-07, 11:45 AM I hope so. I imagine it would be similar to Undermountain in that you'd have a paper story object that was signed.

07-23-07, 07:38 PM There is a Blackout Expedition DM's Mark. It will come out during the blackout period and it will give story objects.

07-25-07, 12:04 PM Excellent! I was just about to ask for some kind of expendition DM's Mark, as I've got some funky ideas for a module and it's vastly easier to get people together when what is playable is wide open.

In the article about it, it says no adventures can be recorded between July 30 and August 15.

But the article explaining the blackout date said that mods can be recorded no later than Aug 6.

07-26-07, 12:06 AM All reporting needs to be validated by August 6. Play of any adventure (except the Expedition DM's Mark) may not occur after July 29, and will resume on August 16 (the first day of Gen Con Indy).

The only XE adventure that should be reported, in any way, after August 6 and before August 16 is the Expedition DM's Mark. You cannot report your other Xen'drik adventures after August 6 in any way (the system won't record any data for those whatsoever). The story objects for the Expedition DM's Mark are able to be "turned on" for that period as it won't affect the XP/gp calculation for the level kick.

I would, but I need to know first if I will be eating it by ordering it. There have been mixed reports about whether you can order and run a DM's Mark, and then play in it.

Also, as an expedition, I assume each player can only play it only once with ONE of their four characters, and that mixed tables are allowed.

It's a grey area, I'm sure, and I doubt the intent is to prevent online play, but rules are rules. . .

Under no circumstances may Delve, Expedition, or Special events of any kind be played via the Internet

If you CAN play it online, I'm going to be on my honeymoon during the playable period for this module. I'd be happy to order it for you, Iseelba, and send you the PDF, if you return the results to me for reporting (that way you don't have to risk losing it by way of sanctioning it)

I'd also be glad to see all the Expeditions allowed Online (since that's where I can get XenDrik games at the moment ..though I should get one at GenConUK at least).

Can you tell me when the last day to report the blackout module is? If we play it on August 15, is there a hurry to report it before the 16th, or is the reporting of the blackout module as normal?
