Hello,

I'm having trouble to understand how Item Creation works in Xen'drik Expeditions for an Artificer with some feats.

1st - Item Creation Feats. That's (Price x 3) for consumable items and (Price x 2/3) for other items. Let's call this 'base price'

2nd - Extraordinary Artisan Feat. That's a reduction of 25%, or (Base Price x 3/4) on the *gold* cost.

3rd - Legendary Artisan Feat. That's a reduction of 25%, or (Base Price x 3/4) on the *experience* cost.

Now, suppose the Artificer have both feats. Since XE only uses gold price, do both apply?
If the answer is yes, how the math works?

How much would cost a 1st-Level Potion for a character with both feats in XE?

No. Legendary Artisan is restricted in XE (p. 17 of XECS v1.1).

A 1st-level potion is 250 gp. If crafted, that means it should only be 150 gp. If crafted with the Extraordinary Artisan Feat, that makes it 112.5 gp.

Same restriction goes for Exceptional Artisan feat.

Greg, you sure that potion would be 112.5? According to the Extraordinary Artisan section on page 7 of the XenEx CS 1.1 it should be only 100 gold.

I knew that. Besides, this feat is useless since in XE we don't count time between adventures.

According to the Extraordinary Artisan section on page 7 of the XenEx CS 1.1 it should be only 100 gold.
That's a good source of doubt ...

It should be 100 gp. I did the math incorrectly.

Then, how's the right math?

1st level potion = 50 gp, acording to DMG.

That Base Price x3 (Item Creation Feat) = 150.

With Extraordinary Artisan that's 25% off, or Price x 3/4 ... results in 112.5 gp ...

Then, how can we get the 100 gp listed on XE Standard?

I'd suggest you reread that particular section of the XenEx CS I cited above.

Well, sadly they don't inform how can someone make it cost only x2 base price... just say the price can go from 100gp to 250gp ...

Really? On my copy of the XenEx CS 1.1 on page 7 in the section that deals with the Extraordinary Artisan feat (its right at halfway down the page on the right column) it states: "Taking this feat allows characters to craft consumable items for x2 published cost . . ."

I am glad of this change for ease of play. Using multiples of 2 & 3 for consumible item cost is a lot easier to figure out than multiples of 2.5 & 3.75.

XECS page 7.
Extraordinary Artisan (ECS 53): Taking this feat allows characters to craft consumable items for x2 published cost, or for half the published cost instead of 3/4 published cost. Game effects that reduce the cost of crafting an item (like the caster’s shield) do not stack with this feat.

This makes it 100 gp.

published cost = 50 gp
extraordinary artisan feat = x2 published cost = 100 gp.
The simplest math we've seen so far. :D

D'uh, I read the wrong entry... that's what you get when you do things when you're sleepy.

The simplest math we've seen so far.
Now that's something!

I had a problem with this part:

Taking this feat allows characters to craft consumable items for x2 published cost, or for half the published cost instead of 3/4 published cost.

I didn't realize, until now, that "x2 published cost" applies to consumable and "1/2 instead 3/4" applies to the other items... d'uh again.

Well, thanks everyone...
