| FaintestInkling01-23-07, 01:27 AM | Factionmasters -- I am directing a complaint about the RPGA to you, not because I think that it is anyway your fault, but because I respect how responsive you are and have been, and I want to draw this to your attention. I am a new Herald-Level GM interested in running XE campaigns with two distinct groups of players. Between these groups, there will be 12 entirely new RPGA members. I scheduled a session for late December and one for early January. None of my players had RPGA numbers. I e-mailed the RPGA for membership cards. On December 6, I was told by e-mail by Tim Kelley that, quote: "Fifteen membership applications will be out to you by the end of this week." Now, I am sure that Mr. Kelley is very busy and may have had a perfectly good reason for not doing this. However, I am not a fan of being told that something is going to happen in a certain way or at a certain time, as if it is going to be a sure thing, when apparently, the RPGA is actually too busy to make such promises. In fact, no membership applications were ever sent to me. (The end of the week of December 6 was December 8.) On January 3, I e-mailed the RPGA (by Mr. Kelley) once again, and asked for confirmation if the membership applications would be sent to me. I hoped to get them so I "retroactively" log my players within 8 days of the events. I received no response to this second e-mail. More than 8 days passed. In early January (I believe around January 8), I suspected I would get no response, so I told all of my twelve players (in two groups) to e-mail the RPGA and ask for membership numbers, then report them to me. Most of the players e-mailed in my presence so I would know that they really did it. Since that time, only two of them have received their numbers. I have therefore "canceled" the events in the reporting menu. I did not like having to do this, and I'm sure my players won't like it, but I thought they shouldn't be unreported through DDXP. The point is, had the RPGA not told me that they were sending me applications, I would have not had the events OR tried to get membership applications from other DMs who had extras via the message-boards. I don't really expect the Factionmasters to personally vindicate me on this; I am just letting you know that this is apparently a problem, if you don't know already. Furthermore, I respectfully submit that it is rude to tell someone, unequivocally, "x will happen in y period of time," when in fact what one means is, "I will try to do this if I have time, but we're very busy." |
| Harliquinn01-23-07, 08:51 AM | I don't blame factionmaster either, and luckily for me it didn't cause an event to be cancelled, but I was also told that I would have RPGA membership cards sent back in December and never received them. All my players as it turned out were already members, so it went well. However, I wanted to add my voice to those who did not receive them. THat said, I have in general received fast and efficient RPGA attention on several other matters regarding both my D&D Rewards program and getting some modules credited to the right faction character. For those, I am please. Harliquinn |
| Skerrit01-23-07, 09:11 AM | Alas, there's not much we can actually do, but I do recomend that in addition to emailing Tim Kelly, you email everyone you can find on the WOTC site with a posted email (like the customer service folks). Hopefully one of them will get you the cards you need. |
| Rewth01-23-07, 09:41 AM | as an additional suggestion, you might also stop into your friendly local gaming store. especially if they were part of games day a few months back or run any of the rpga/dci events (particularly minis tournaments). its not uncommon for thier prize support packs to contain RPGA cards. there is a good chance they still have a few laying around. i doubt you'll get twelve, but it might turn up a few. |
| Harliquinn01-23-07, 10:24 AM | I Plan to pick some up at D&D Experience personally :) |
| Mherduwynn01-29-07, 10:25 PM | One of my goals at DDXP is to snag a pack of RPGA membership cards if any are available on Sunday. I'll then be able to help people out just like you, sir. Unfortunately, that is pretty much all we can do. I hope you can get this resolved through Tim personally; he IS a busy guy but he's also a great resource for solving these kinds of problems. Good luck! -August |
| JJeff01-29-07, 11:27 PM | I have sent about 3 emails to many different emails and have recieved an email saying "We'll send you some cards..." and have not seen any for about 3months now. Have been surviving by grabbing cards off other DMs in my area.... I need cards too... If anyone has Membership card access, I want it too.... |
| thearcept01-30-07, 01:40 AM | Dont forget that if theres a store in your area that gets the retailers kit from wizards they have "1" sign up form inside each box, and that store can get up to 4 box's a month. Getting them from the store is the hard part. Luckally my local store has ME running the games... they give me all 4 of their cards a month. -just a way out there idea to help. -arcept |
| FaintestInkling02-03-07, 01:15 AM | Just wanted to update everyone: after e-mailing Customer Service, that e-mail was passed on to Mr. Kelley. He has since sent me membership cards by FedEx and apologized for the delay. |
| JJeff02-03-07, 04:42 AM | Which email is this? CustServ@wizards.com? |
| pedr02-03-07, 08:10 AM | You can't actually email using your email system. They use a customer service/incident management thingy system which you can access at wizards.custhelp.com You then create an account, click the 'Email us' tab and follow the instructions. You'll get a confirmation email, then, theoretically, a response from the custhelp people saying they're passing it on to the RPGA, then the response from the RPGA if it is something they can help with. |
| FaintestInkling02-04-07, 08:26 PM | Yes, by "e-mail" I did mean going througn the "help" system at wizards.com as pedr describes. |
| JJeff02-04-07, 11:34 PM | Well, they are refusing to let me log in, saying that there's no such account when I enter my email and then when I try to make a new account, they say that the email is already in the database. I even tried it with a email that doesn't even exist yet, and still they said it is already in the database. Can anyone help me? Even since they vamped up the site, I have not been able to log in to cust serv, but the RPGA member site is ok so far. |
