| DBlizzard08-21-06, 02:12 AM | I believe this is complete. It lists the non-core (i.e. not PHB or Eberron Campaign setting) classes and races playable in Xen'drik. I also list how you can play those races. There are some classes available in other ways after character creation through expansion cards. I haven't listed those here. Everything listed here in black is a campaign creation card. Factions are listed in grey. Classes Beguiler: Cabal of Shadows faction Dragon Shaman: Crimson Codex faction Duskblade: Cabal of Shadows faction Favored Soul: Off the Beaten Path, Covenant of Light faction Incarnate: Shaper of the Soul Mist, Crimson Codex faction Knight: Covenant of Light faction Marshal: Blackwheel Company faction Psion: People of Mind, Matter, and Radiance (Kalashtar only), A 'Forged Apart (Warforged only), Ancient Blood of Xen’drik (Half-Giant only) Psychic Warrior: People of Mind, Matter, and Radiance (Kalashtar only), A 'Forged Apart (Warforged only), Ancient Blood of Xen’drik (Half-Giant only) Scout: Off the Beaten Path, Blackwheel Company faction Soulborn: Shaper of the Soul Mist, Covenant of Light faction Soulknife: People of Mind, Matter, and Radiance (Kalashtar only), A 'Forged Apart (Warforged only), Ancient Blood of Xen’drik (Half-Giant only) Swashbuckler: Off the Beaten Path Totemist: Shaper of the Soul Mist, Crimson Codex faction Warlock: Cabal of Shadows faction Warmage: Off the Beaten Path, Blackwheel Company faction Wilder: People of Mind, Matter, and Radiance (Kalashtar only), A 'Forged Apart (Warforged only), Ancient Blood of Xen’drik (Half-Giant only) Races Aasimar: Covenant of Light faction Asheratis: Sand Swimmer of Menechtarun Catfolk: Stalker of Skyfall Daelkyr Half-Blood: Taint of the Daelkyr, Cabal of Shadows faction Drow: Child of Vulkoor Gnoll: Blackwheel Company faction Goblin: City Goblin Half-Drow: Child of Vulkoor Half-Giant: Ancient Blood of Xen’drik Hobgoblin: City Goblin Kalashtar: People of Mind, Matter, and Radiance Orc: Children of the Shadow Marches Raptorian: Covenant of Light faction Skarn: Crimson Codex faction Spellscale: Crimson Codex faction Tiefling: Cabal of Shadows faction Warforged Scout: Sentient Scout, Blackwheel Company faction Whisper Gnome: Off the Beaten Path |
| RLRapp08-26-06, 08:17 PM | I'm afraid Ardent, Divine Mind, and Lurk are not unlocked as the creation cards refer specifically to opening classes from the Expanded Psionics Handbook, not Complete Psionic. |
| Tabiani08-26-06, 08:43 PM | I'm betting that the wording on the Ancient Blood of Xen'drik card will also unlock the standard psionic classes for Half-Giants. As was posted in this thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=689755): Yes, psionics is expicitly unlocked for half-giants with the "Ancient Blood of Xen'drik" card. To quote the card, "As half-giants are naturally psionic, this card also unlocks nonrestricted rules items from the Expanded Psionics Handbook." That should cover Psion, Psychic Warrior (their favored class), Soulknife, and Wilder. I don't know about the Ardent, Divine Mind, and Lurk issue. |
| Jesse Heinig08-27-06, 08:00 AM | The character database makes a specific note that taking a class from Complete Psionic (Ardent, Divine Mind, Lurk) counts as your 1st and 2nd level expansion slots. |
| DBlizzard08-27-06, 10:20 AM | The character database makes a specific note that taking a class from Complete Psionic (Ardent, Divine Mind, Lurk) counts as your 1st and 2nd level expansion slots.I was wondering about that. I just noted that those classes were specially given options in the character database. |
| Cainin08-29-06, 10:14 AM | So can people officially take Complete Psionic base classes, assuming the appropriate creation cards, since the Character Database trumps all? |
| kiddoc08-29-06, 01:51 PM | So can people officially take Complete Psionic base classes, assuming the appropriate creation cards, since the Character Database trumps all? No. Besides, we're about to tear the character database a new one. Get ready for a shake up. ;) |
| Jesse Heinig08-29-06, 03:47 PM | Interestingly, I already have a Kalashtar Divine Mind registered, and the campaign standards document also references these core classes peripherally. Am I getting the Retroactive Shaft (TM) that pops up every now and again in the RPGA? No. Besides, we're about to tear the character database a new one. Get ready for a shake up. ;) |

Am I getting the Retroactive Shaft (TM) that pops up every now and again in the RPGA? Perhaps just the opposite. I can't say much now... Let's just say though, that rather than the shaft, you might get the green light on a few things that have never before been allowed/attempted. Of course, some people might whine and complain about this too: "Oh, woe is me, I hate freedom in the character build, I already played a character, waaaah." Probably the same people that would complain about the way the bills were folded if I sent them an envelope full of free cash. Still, we're at the planning board now. The idea is to allow character creation a lot more freedom and room for individual growth. That needs to happen in a balanced, fun way, rather than a broken, bad, disorganized way. Still, until you see otherwise, I would stick strictly by what you see in the Campaign Standards. Assume that (until we blow the lid of this thing!) that unless we specify in campaign documentation that it's allowed, it's not an option. |
| Jesse Heinig08-29-06, 10:41 PM | I'm all for opening up more possibilities, I just don't want my character to suddenly become illegal and unplayable. (I'm now facing that possibility for both of my currently-registered Xen'drik characters.) Perhaps just the opposite. I can't say much now... (I'm now facing that possibility for both of my currently-registered Xen'drik characters.) If you've followed the verbatim campaign standards (and ONLY the campaign standards), without taking any personal liberties or unnecessarily broad interpretations, you should be just fine. The factionmasters have taken every available opportunity to clarify things like LA and allowable race/class combinations on the boards. Furthermore, CS exclusively remove the possibility of any class not expressly mentioned for use or unlock by the mechanics and text contained within. I'd take this opportunity to remind people that no matter what a database may say, we provide the CS for a good reason. In this case you don't even have a good indication of how, or why a database may allow a certain option. In this case it might be a VERY SPECIAL cert that unlocks a certain class, or a unique combination of future campaign cards, that we're just prepping the possibilities for. CS is going to see a huge update in the next 3 weeks, taking into account all of the new information, and making sure nobody gets "retroactively screwed" that was playing by the original CS in the first place. |

Trust me brother--nobody posts more than I do. The questions I have answers to, and the questions I'm allowed to answer, I answer. If it makes you feel better, I log 90% of the intelligent, not-already-answered-by-game-rules-or-campaign-standards questions that pop up. They'll go into the official FAQ and CS. |

| DBlizzard09-03-06, 11:56 PM | Just a double-check: Does anyone see anything I'm missing (or anything I have that's wrong)? |
| quizboy10-31-06, 10:14 AM | I haven't gone over the class and race listing in detail, but I found an omission. I play a warmage in MoH, but I'm dragonmarked. The "off the beaten path" card is a creation card that allows warmage, but I couldn't use it because I have a "dragonmark house" creation card. The solution is the "Aundairian Arcanist" card (Set 3 Card 8) that also allows warmage. The nice thing for XE is that it only costs one action point (for an expansion card) and not the three for a creation card. --Steven |
| DBlizzard10-31-06, 10:20 AM | The solution is the "Aundairian Arcanist" card (Set 3 Card 8) that also allows warmage. The campaign standards hadn't been updated when I wrote this (indeed, they still haven't officially been updated). In Mark of Heroes you couldn't use an expansion card to gain a class at first level, only a creation card (in fact, the computer system won't let you do that in either MoH or XE). As it stands now, this all seem moot, since the Faction leaders have shown a love of chaos allowing everything under the sun (at least as far as classes go) in the draft of the next campaign standards. |
