The campaign standards draft statesConsumable items, those magic items that are consumed in use or multiple uses (typically potions, scrolls, staffs, wands, and a select number of wondrous items) ...and the ECS errata for Warforged Juggernaut statesIn addition, it can no longer benefit from the effects of consumable spells and magic items, such as heroes’ feast and potions.I'm sure the XECS didn't mean to redefine the meaning of "consumable items". Or is the errata in error?

And warforged juggernauts in XE can use oils, correct?

There are two meanings of the word 'consume'. One is 'to use up', in the sense that you use up a torch when it is burned out. The other is 'to eat or drink'.

The CS is using the first meaning: items which are used up during the course of their use cost five times the book-price. The ECS errata is using the second meaning: Warforged Juggernauts lose the ability to eat or drink.

There are two meanings of the word 'consume'. One is 'to use up', in the sense that you use up a torch when it is burned out. The other is 'to eat or drink'.I am, in fact, aware of this. But I could not find an "official" definition of the term "consumable item" in the SRD, noticed that it was being used in different senses in different sources, and wanted a clarification to avoid ambiguity.

I'll also point out that, if the "(potion is to oil) as (Nyquil:Rogaine)" analogy is valid, there would be still be some question over whether an oil is considered a consumable. Not that my warforged is balding.

I think the context makes it clear... and note that magical oils can work on inanimate objects (oil of bless weapon, for instance), so should work fine on a Warforged Juggernaut.

It's a common sense rule.

Trying to clarifiy it with different wordings will only cause more confusion.
