| gtauxe07-30-07, 03:35 PM | I killed off half the party while running Cabal of Shadows 4, and am wondering how to report it properly... Does reporting those characters as "dead" retire them permanently? I'd normally recommend people just make new characters at the level bump, but one of my players has been playing her character long enough that she doesn't want to lose her story objects. Everyone was raised during gameplay (the party wasn't pressed for time and was able to raise some cash, fortunately), so those characters aren't permanently dead, but they should be penalized for losing a level and spending cash to get raised. I'm confused since the XECS states that raised characters should lose 500 XP/character level, but since we're using the online character tracker, there's not actually a way for me to take away a character's XP. Also, will having died and lost a level before the level bump next month have any effect after the level bump? If not, then I suppose this post is irrelevant for the moment. |

Also, the character must pay 1,100gp. Both of these amounts are listed as negatives in the Adventure Tracking Sheet, though the GP may be split up among the group. Marking them 'dead' on the form means the character is removed from play entirely. |

If they took an NPC's +1 Mace and sold it during the mod to afford the raise dead, it is still marked as gp loss on the reporting form. Why? Because that +1 Mace was party loot and is included in the EV increase for the module. If you don't report the deaths as 1,100gp loss, you are essentially counting that EV twice. -Lou |
