Draconomicon Feats [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-26-06, 11:47 PM Supposedly feats from Draconomicon are allowed w/ expansion slot usage (but only from chapter 3. ) This includes Draconic Familiar and Draconic Cohort. Are evil dragon familiars and cohorts allowed? Particularly in Crimson Codex (I would imagine they must be legal in Cabal of Shadows)

As a side note, will you need to use your own expansion slots to enable feats/spells for cohorts? or will they get there own expansion slots for that?

I know I'm no where near that level yet, but I want to plan ahead. Thanks.

Cohorts should be a non-issue in Xen'Drik since the Leadership feat is Restricted.

As for evil familiars, that would be up to the leniency of the DM. More importantly, for what possible reason would a non-evil character want an evil familiar? Thats as crazy as a gnome wearing a kilt :D

It does not seem inherently crazy for a Lawful Neutral spellscale with blue scales, who is a blue dragon shaman, and is on friendly terms with a blue dragon (see Crimson Codex ep. 1) and was on friendly terms with a blue dragon in his original backstory to have a blue dragon wyrmling familiar. From the 1.1 campaign setting draft I see that dragon familiar is Xen legal, but dragon cohort is not. But I did not see any indication about whether evil familiars are legal/illegal/Cabal only.

I believe the Draft A of the CS 1.1 specifically put Draconic Cohort on the restricted Feat list.

11-04-06, 12:44 PM I've looked at the 1.1 XECS now, and yes draconic cohort is a no go. So be it. I wasn't aware that Eberron had looser restrictions on dragon alignment. A lawful neutral blue dragon familiar fits me exactly perfectly. Thanks for the tip.
