| DorsetDas10-30-06, 03:44 AM | Hi all Was creating a character for a Xen'drik game and having never played I thought I'd play a Druid. So I did all the creation. Then went to work out my starting cash and on that sections it shows that the Druid is a restricted character. UNsure weather it was legal or not and with time running out I made a cleric and had emense fun. Can anyone clear up is the Druid playable. Cheers Das |

However, XE uses the significantly nerfed Wild Shape/Polymorph errata, so (IMO) they aren't playable. Ed |
| DorsetDas10-30-06, 08:55 AM | yeah know they are playable but what is not clear is do you need a creation card. On one page it says no and in the other it says yes. As for wild shape am not worried too much about that as I play the character and will make them playable no matter what. So not a probelm. Das |
| Mherduwynn10-30-06, 09:26 AM | Druids are fine. They are a core class. You don't need a card, expansion slot, etc. -August |
| DorsetDas10-30-06, 10:25 AM | THanks for the confirmation. It is what I thought it was only because in the Campaign Standards starting gold section mentions they are limited. I will get my Druid ready to rock and roll for the next game, he will have to be CoL or CC. Have to wait and see which I go for. Das |
| GaloisTheOmnipotent11-07-06, 09:03 PM | Hello! Can a shifter druid get 3 attacks from Shapeshift+Shifter Trait(Razorclaw)? I have a player shapeshifting, then growing claws, and I feel it's too powerful. Any ideas? Thanks! |
| KShaver11-08-06, 01:02 PM | Hello! Can a shifter druid get 3 attacks from Shapeshift+Shifter Trait(Razorclaw)? I have a player shapeshifting, then growing claws, and I feel it's too powerful. Any ideas? Thanks! Yes, they stack. I'm guessing the number of attacks is only half the problem, as at this point they also have at least +6 strength over their base. Remember, once he has his claws out, that his first attack only gets 1x str for bonus damage instead of the 1.5x he gets when it is his only natural weapon, and that any secondary attacks only get x.5 str added to them. Of course if I were him I'd use the double claw as the primary attacks at that point, and the other attack as the secondary. This build is extremely good at the low levels, he'll taper off a bit in power after a few levels, but with the right build he'll still be a very solid character. Just hope he doesn't realize that since he can be shapeshifted 100% of his conscious time that he can have other players strap some barding onto him for a nice AC boost. Also hope he doesn't realize that a couple of barbarian levels really enhance this build. |
| Mherduwynn11-16-06, 01:31 PM | Keep in mind that this build, while very capable in the combat arena, is very much an on-again/off-again build. He'll have to devote so much of his character build to this three-attacks at high damage range that he'll likely have nothing else going for him. Also, like any shifter, his advantages are a very limited use asset. If he doesn't invest in Shifter feats, he'll be optimized for only a single short combat or two. Anything more and his major asset has already been used up. Just some thoughts, -August |
| Japangirl11-17-06, 07:46 PM | Wild shape + wild full plate + wild tower shield + 1 monk = AC 50+. No need to worry about barding then! |

| Terry Hawkins11-19-06, 10:33 AM | As far as the Xen'drik Expeditions rules are concerned: 1) If the type and sub-type does not changen per Alternate Form, does this mean that a druid shapechanged into a Manta Ray is not aquatic and therefore cannot breath underwater? 2) What Monster books are allows for forms. Living Greyhawk limits this to Monster Manual I only. Will any of the other books/monster entries be allowed? |

Living Greyhawk limits this to Monster Manual I only. Will any of the other books/monster entries be allowed? 1) I admit that is a bit of quandry and I'm not quite sure on this one so I would need to do a little more research/reading to double check. At the very least its a DM call. 2) You can only choose forms from the Monster Manual and the Eberron Campaign Setting. Some alternate forms might be unlocked via story objects. |
| Skerrit11-19-06, 11:07 AM | I double checked the erratta to the MM. It states that if you turn into a form that has an aquatic subtype, you gain that subtype as well, so you can breathe water. |
| KShaver11-20-06, 07:52 AM | Wild shape + wild full plate + wild tower shield + 1 monk = AC 50+. No need to worry about barding then! His player is using the alternate druid shapeshifting trait (PHB II) rather than wild shape. They are similar, but still different enough than wild shape that gear and feats designed for wild shape do not work with it. |
