| heirodule08-09-06, 03:46 PM | So what's the deal? The mods I've downloaded to run at the end of the month all say that you give out 'event treasure' at the end, but that this turns into EV when the character is recorded. The mods also say that until Gen Con Indy (now) you may keep event treasure between events, but that will end prior to Gen Con Indy. Right now, I have blackwheel character with 200 gp EV added from playing the first mod. if I play at Gen Con, do I keep the event treasure, since it hasn't been annoucned yet? How is that added to the EV? My blackwheel charcater is also supposed to have a electronic story object, but is isn't showing on the character tracker? Will it? Does my Gm have to do somethign? Can I keep it on the adventure journal? Also it says that a DM's mark can give X gp in 'event treasure'. Are there any limits other than the GP limit as to what can be given? Will those be acceptable if the announcement of teh end of event treasure appears at some late date (everything else is late: should we go by the mod claim that it will be announced at Indy, or wait for an actual announcement?) | Cainin08-15-06, 03:46 PM | Since the issue with Event Treasure was likely overlooked due to the Gen Con flurry, I would like to ask again. How should XE GMs handle the Event Treasure mentioned in the 1st XE mods that premeired at Origins? My CS GM last week had no idea. I'm running BC #1 this Thurday. Do I give out the magic items mentioned items for the Adventure Journal treasure? Or will this already be figured into their EV as the "after Gen Con" sidebar states? Thanks for the help. |

All the players got there EV reported, it shows up on the character tracker, so everything should be fine going forward. Event treasure is to be used when the character plays more than one adventure at a single event. An event is the convention, game day, home game, etc. that you are playing at. When that event is over, the event treasure is then forfeit, and you go by what the EV shows on your character tracker when you go to the next event (convention, game day, home game, etc.). If you are running Blackwheel 1 this thursday, and only Blackwheel 1, then you do not give out event treasure, since the characters will not be playing in any more mods at that event. If you were running BW1 and the BW DMs mark at the same event, then you would give out the event treasure from the first mod, which could be used in the second mod. It would be gone after the event ended, and everyone would then get their character updated on the web site. My players are actually ahead of me in EV, even though I played the mods at Origins six weeks before they did, since the database issues from Origins still have not been worked out. I hope this hasn't been too rambling. Just one persons view from running 12 Xen'drik slots in the past two weeks. Dan Erbacher |

The DM Marks thing sounded interesting, but way too nebulous and "iffy" to try to risk missing other things to get in on at GenCon. Since all events register to full in something obscene like 15-30 minutes I find it very very unattractive to look at "potential" games over the ones I KNOW will run (excluding the no-show guy for the 9pm Saturday Serenity table in room 206...). As for EV, does that "earned" amount add to your base gp (mine was 200 for a cleric) at first level - and when do profesion and craft ranks count towards this? Also, since they say you can buy all this nifty stuff that you just can not afford, (I think it was cold iron or blackwood or something that they list can be bought, but it's like 1,000 gp plus item base cost or something in the book - realistically you can't get it by the EV-by-level thing until like 3rd or 4th and depending on what you make in mods - and how that adds in). Other than that (mainly b/c there's note of taking "Commerce" as a Cleric domain for the profesion bonus and the bonus in goods being cheaper with nowhere in the character tracker to denote this (that I've found) to allow it to take effect)... This whole tracking and character creation setup needs a good clear step-by-step for new players to these campaigns. *g* Some of us are just too dense to follow it. :embarrass |
| tbug08-16-06, 07:34 PM | I'm hoping that the key issue is reporting. We have a player or two around here who just want to play. They might drop in, use a fast-play character, and wander off. I suspect that they wouldn't be too keen on all the paperwork or on-line tracking. If that's what's fun for them then that's the experience I'm happy to provide, but I want to be sure that it's not going to harm anyone else's fun while I'm at it. |
