| smerwin2904-20-07, 01:46 PM | Greetings you lovely XE players, Wizards recently published a "mega-adventure" called "Eyes of the Lich Queen." To give our players more play opportunites and support WotC, we will be making that adventure legal for the XE campaign. The adventure will be divided into four parts, and the adaptation for the first part is now available for ordering. The first two parts will be available for play before the GenCon level bump, and the second two parts will be available afterward. A more formal announcement will be made next week, but in the meantime you can make plans to play the adventure. I don't want to give too much more in the way of details, as most questions will be answered in the announcement and in the adventure adaptations themselves. Enjoy! |
| lordtiberiusfoxx04-20-07, 05:06 PM | What's super awsome is that we don't have time units in XE, so we can adp away! |
| WolfStar7604-20-07, 05:13 PM | Ooooooooooh. Aaaaaaaaaah. /not sarcastic //very excited by this |
| Shadowed Intent04-20-07, 09:24 PM | Now this is a very interesting development. When I first read the blurb I thought of XE. I like this. I like this alot. |
| Hellcast04-21-07, 12:23 AM | This sounds interesting, waiting to hear more about.Hope it can be played online. |
| Mherduwynn04-21-07, 10:17 PM | When we Factionmasters promised you as many play opportunities as we could manage, we meant it. Enjoy the Adaptations! -A |
| Evanta04-21-07, 10:25 PM | Are we going to use new characters for the Eyes of the Lich Queen? Or are we still using existing faction characters? |
| Mherduwynn04-22-07, 02:27 AM | You'll use your own characters; it will be in every way like a normal XEN'DRIK EXPEDITIONS adventure. Enjoy! -A |

| smerwin2904-22-07, 09:10 AM | Meaning no online play allowed? We have to talk about this with HQ. Right now it is considered an Expedition adventure, which means that different factions can play together, and no online play. When the announcement goes up on the RPGA site next week, we'll make sure it is clear whether online play is possible or not. Shawn |

Let HQ know that online play means more people will buy the adventure which means more sales :D |
| Kelvane04-22-07, 09:36 PM | The only reason I bought it was so I could run my Xen'drix group through it. |
| lseelba04-25-07, 01:08 AM | The announcement is live...is it good or bad news for us online campaigns  |
| JJeff04-25-07, 03:38 AM | Not much details beyond what Shawn said... Does this mean that there'll be no Faction Adventure 6 before the Bump? Cos I feel that too many people would be playing this rather that playing modules and I don't think players that are playign this would be able to stop halfway to play modules.... So does it act as the modules after Factional 5, meaning that Faction 6,7 and Expedition 4 are after the Bump Or do people choose a path: Path A) Play the published modules Factional 6, 7 and Expedition 4 Path B) Play Eyes of the Lich Queen |
| smerwin2904-25-07, 07:46 AM | We talked to the big chief last night. You can play Eyes of the Lich Queen online. Part 1 is currently available, and Part 2 will be released very, very soon. Each part of Eyes of the Lich Queen is considered a separate adventure, so you do not need to play the entire adventure (Parts 1-4) before playing other adventures. Just be aware that each part may take a little longer than 4 hours. How long they will take is very much dependant on the individual tables. Faction Adventures #6 and Expedition Adventure #4 will be available before the level bump at GenCon Indy. GenCon Indy will see the release of Faction Adventures #7 and Expedition Adventure #5. There will also be a special event that you can play and gain rewards for one of your XE characters. More details on that will be forthcoming later. Shawn Crimson Codex Guy |
| heirodule04-25-07, 09:05 AM | Maybe this is asking for spoilers, but looking at the preview information (ToC), it looks like the mod isn't set in Xen'drik. Does the adaptation change the location of the scenario any? Do we start in Xen'drik with a good Xen'drik/Caldyn Fragment "hook"? Edit: oh, and are you going to be pulling any plot points from the mod into the planned XE storyline? Or can we view this as a bit "standalone"? |
| pedr04-25-07, 09:08 AM | Can you bribe the web-gnome people to update the announcement to say that it can be played online? At present it says that it's an Expedition and by the RAW that would mean that it can't. I realise that as you've said that it can, people are unlikely to quibble, but people who don't read these boards might not notice and it'd be good to have as many people playing it as possible! Incidentally, while you were taking with Mr T (bad mental image, but never mind...) I don't suppose he dropped any hints that LG Adapted Modules might be moved to the 'can be played online' category, did he?! |
| smerwin2904-25-07, 10:05 AM | I'll see what I can do to get the online issue mentioned on the web announcement. In terms of LG Adapted adventures, it wasn't discussed. That's a job for your Friendly Neighborhood Circle members. |

So does it act as the modules after Factional 5, meaning that Faction 6,7 and Expedition 4 are after the Bump Or do people choose a path: Path A) Play the published modules Factional 6, 7 and Expedition 4 Path B) Play Eyes of the Lich Queen I don't see why people would have to choose a path; the factionals have level adjustments for higher level parties in them, so I see no reason why we can't do both. *Gears up Crimson Codex character for all-star team expedition goodness* |
| smerwin2904-25-07, 02:43 PM | Yes, you can certainly do both, and we hope that you do all of the above. |
| Jesse Heinig04-25-07, 04:38 PM | Out of curiosity: Does the module assume an adversarial stance toward the Blood of Vol (as implied by the title)? My table down here has an entire group of Vol cultists in the Cabal of Shadows, who would be very unlikely to oppose the Lich Queen's plans. Would the module be playable with them or does it presuppose that the players are opposition? |
| lseelba04-25-07, 04:47 PM | Thanks so much Factionmasters for all your hard work! Just one question, the first adventure, is it for level 4-6 or 5-7? |
| smerwin2904-25-07, 05:30 PM | Out of curiosity: Does the module assume an adversarial stance toward the Blood of Vol (as implied by the title)? My table down here has an entire group of Vol cultists in the Cabal of Shadows, who would be very unlikely to oppose the Lich Queen's plans. Would the module be playable with them or does it presuppose that the players are opposition? Let's just say that the Cabal of Shadows' goals may not fit hand in glove with the goals of the Blood of Vol. The PCs may have to make a choice about which group they will serve, and serving the wrong one might not be conducive to completing the adventure. | smerwin2904-25-07, 05:31 PM | Just one question, the first adventure, is it for level 4-6 or 5-7? Part 1 "The Temple of Kha’shazul" is optimized for 5th level characters. Adjustments can be made by the DM is parties are higher or lower level than this. |

My table down here has an entire group of Vol cultists in the Cabal of Shadows, who would be very unlikely to oppose the Lich Queen's plans. Would the module be playable with them or does it presuppose that the players are opposition? Seeing as the Cabal is a partially religious organization that favors the Dark Six, and the Traveler in particular, there will be times when PCs who worship different gods might find themselves in a difficult spot. If you have a group that all worship the Blood of Vol and an understanding DM, your DM should be able to make some adjustments so things work out; or maybe you will just have to choose whether the Lich Queen or the Cabal is more important to you? :D |
| Jesse Heinig04-26-07, 03:26 AM | Right then, Covenant of Light characters it is! (Since I can't resist "telling about my character" our Cabal group, all Vol-worshippers, is a cleric/dread necro/true necro, a cleric/knight/master of shrouds, a paladin/bone knight, and a favored soul/rogue/thief of life. We also have a half-daelkyr warmage thrown in for good measure, but he's less "Vol" and more "touched.")
